About this listen
The drums of war sound in the Limitless Lands as Commander Raytak continues his quest to unite Hayden’s Knoll under the banner of the Imperium. Narbos the Grimm prepares his forces to invade, seeking new power from an ancient evil as he tries to wrest control of the zone from Raytak and his friends.
Unsure of who is friend or potential foe, Raytak must make contact with the Ikbose elves and the Goreaxe ogres. Will they join the Imperium? Will they choose their own path? Will they fight alongside his enemies?
Back in the real world, his aged body deteriorates and the medpod struggles to keep him alive even as it unlocks more of his faded memories. The AI takes a risk that will either lead him on the path to remembering his family, or wipe from his mind all trace of their existence.
Can Raytak win in the continuing fight to recover his mind and body? Or will all that he and his friends have built inside the game burn to the ground?

Loved it.
Despite all its flaws I absolutely love this series.
The good:
The story is enjoyable, well-paced and I really like all the characters.
The bad:
The whole series suffers from poor writing in combat sequences, which is surprising as the non-combat parts are much better.
I know the story happens within a game, but even so, the mechanics completely omits troops morale - with the loses the Legion faces every day, they would soon break.
The ugly:
While the narrator does a stellar job, his rendition of young females sounds comical. Or maybe the ten-year-olds were just drinking neat vodka and smoking two packs a day for the last twenty years, who knows.

Best book out of the series
It's a great continuation of the series and in my opinion the best out of the 4. It shows the development of several characters and the MC is beginning to remember more things about his past. Without spoiling it, the end is very touching. The author does a great job capturing emotions and sucking the reader into the book. That coupled with an amazing narrator really brings the book to life. I WANT MORE!

audio cuts out frequently
the audio cuts out here and there. very frustrating. I've noticed this on a few of my recent purchases. not sure if it's the performance or audible that's causing it. otherwise I enjoyed the book

Part 4 in a great litRPG series.
Another great chapter in the story of Raytac and his friends, with enough "out of game" writing to follow the family and friends outside.
Well narrated and great flowing story, my only regret is having to wait for book 5!

Surprising content, awesome narration
It was awesome to listen to.
I personally really enjoy the voice of Jack Voraces narration, with variations of tone, accent, character,... That brings the story to live in my imagination.
LitRPG usually isn't my favorite genre but this is just a great story. Never expected to hope for a 93 year old guy to win a battle ;)

Back to building
The story continues to be well written and narrated, focusing on the conquering of the region. The book introduces nothing new to the series, but builds towards a promised conflict in the next.

Series builds strongly
Firstly, this book is the 4th in this series, so you probably shouldn't jump directly into this one as it expects a fair degree of familiarity with the cast, in any case the previous books are all highly enjoyable listens and more than worth anyone's time to read or listen to before this one.
This book has a good blend of a compelling story for this instalment with the challenges escalating nicely for the main cast, while at the same time still adding significantly to the main arcs with a number of important things happening on the real world side of things too, so progression was not limited to just the in-game part of the story. The author also does a good job of adding more depth to some of the NPCs in this book, particularly those that are part of the main character's class and who could easily have been overlooked when it came to adding depth.
The narrator's performance is a typically strong one with his range of tones being particularly suited to this cast of characters and the book is definitely enhanced by them.
Overall, another really good listen with the only real downside being the need to wait for the next one to be released.
