Perfect Narrator

Fenella Woolgar is a wonderful narrator with an uncanny ability to bring different voices to life. At times I could have believed I was listening to a full-cast drama, such was the clarity of voices and accents. Her Poirot was excellent.

Good collection of winter-themed mysteries

The ideal festive companion for the Agatha Christie fan. Midwinter Mysteries includes short stories featuring Hercule Poirot, Miss Marple, Parker Pyne and Harley Quinn alongside some standalone selections. While not all of the stories are of equal merit, most are strong. The much-anthologised Adventure of the Christmas Pudding concludes the volume. Fenella Woolgar's narration works equally well throughout. Recommended.

Thoroughly enjoyable

Enjoyed this audio book immensely. The stories were good, each one different and kept one guessing as to the outcome. The narration by Fenella Woolgar was excellent. She conveyed the characters brilliantly, making it so easy to distinguish them, one from another. Looking forward to more of the same.

Excellent Stories but poor narration

The stories are some of the best short stories by Agatha Christie, the narrator is very good at all the accents EXCEPT Hercule Poirot…. He sounded more a whispered effeminate Charlie Chan than Poirot, definitely the worst Poirot I’ve ever heard.

If you ignore that, then this could be a good listen.

Gasp, gasp!

I LOVE the stories, Agatha Christie is an incredibly skilled writer, however, I struggled with the narrator taking big gasps of breath (particularly during stories featuring Poirot) it really distracted me from the story.
