Summary

Voted the world's most beautiful woman, 23-year-old Mira Roskova is admired, envied and desired. With a world-famous footballer for a boyfriend, plus top modelling and endorsement deals, Mira's meteoric rise to fame comes with what her millions of Facebook and Instagram followers imagine to be a perfect life.

But celebrity extracts its pound of flesh. Threatened and harassed online, stalked by besotted fans, beaten up by a man who claims to love her, Mira is assailed on all sides. Home isn't safe, friends can't be trusted, freedoms melt away. Where does the image end and the real person begin?

As the threats multiply, the biggest danger is overlooked. In Broadmoor, Britain's most notorious psychiatric hospital, one man has long been obsessed with this most perfect beauty. His crimes are so awful that a judge ruled they must never be revealed to the public. But his plans to possess Mira are well advanced, and he has the charm and the cunning to make them work.

Good plot but hurried narration

Preferred the DCI Gillard series. The narrator seemed to be in a race to reach the end of the book, not even allowing a full breath between changes of scenes let alone sentences . Sometimes it was difficult to follow the story and I had to go back frequently. Will have to listen to the last chapter again!

Awful narrative

A decent story but the narration was terrible
Almost ditched the book, but I like the author so forced myself to stick with it

Easy listening

I'm a big fan of Nick Louth's DCI Gillard's series so I thought I'd give this a try. Good story and I wanted to keep going back to listen, which is a good sign, but the narration was a bit monotone. Really good at doing the various voices, but the actual narration parts weren't the most captivating to listen to.

Good story but....

the story was good kept me guessing right to the end just one thing spoilt it and that was the narrater!!! for some reason the word "ask" was pronounced arksed all the way through. it drove me mad. I did consider returning the book but was enjoying the story so put up with it but did somewhat spoil it!

Good Story terrible narration

I wanted to persevere as the story seemed good but the narration was so poor I kept giving up! Silly use of a hushed soft tone that meant I couldn’t hear properly especially when listening in the car. No pauses for commas or full stops. Sentences and even chapter headings ran into one making it confusing to listen to. As others have said - rushing as though in a hurry to finish and except when voicing characters speech very little intonation. Such a shame as totally ruined the book

The worst narration I have ever heard.

This has a good story line and deserves better narration. It is a great pity that the narrator is so poor. He seems to struggle to even read!

Dreadful narration.

I like Nick Louths books but this one has nothing to recommend it, purely because the quality of the narration was so poor. I had to rate the story but really it’s not fair as I have only got to Chapter 5. The story was looking promising, but at that point I couldn’t stand listening to the narration any more. Does no one check the quality of the narration? The narrator was a guy called Hozayz Goma. It had poor intonation, the sentences ran into each other and it raced. I even checked the speed of the book! It was so quickly spoken it was difficult to keep up with the story. He did not do the book justice at all. Horrible.

Worst narrator !

This book is the worst I have listen to in all these years- the narration was “machine “ like , no intonation, no emphasis, read too quickly
Just spoiled what is a pretty average book
I shan’t bother with anymore from this author and certainly never buy a book where this narrator is used
