Summary
When widow Mrs Pargeter has her morning coffee, her intention is to admire her beautiful garden in peace and quiet. Little does she expect one of the patio's paving slabs to crack in two, revealing a human skull with a neat hole in the middle of its forehead! Mrs Pargeter decides to investigate. And who better to assist than her late husband's 'business associates', private investigator Truffler Mason and chauffeur Gary?
The trio are soon certain that a murder has been committed and the body disposed of under some convenient building works. But who is the victim? And more importantly, who put the body under Mrs Pargeter's patio? Mrs Pargeter and her friends must find out the truth before suspicion turns towards the late Mr Pargeter, whose business dealings Mrs P remains - naturally! - in blissful ignorance of...

Great detective comedy
Simon Brett has a terrific delivery which brings each of the characters he created to full and comedic life. This is the story of what was under Mrs P's patio and how it got there. Along the way new former employees or, 'business associates' of her much missed dead husband emerge and play their part in helping or hindering the quest. This is just the latest in a series of great performances of very well written material. Long may SB continue!

characters are really good.

Thoroughly enjoyed and untypical narrative/characters

I would love to meet Mrs Pargeter she’s my kind of person. Brilliantly told as usual and a superb story line, borderline crime that does good humorously. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Mrs Pargeter strikes again!
what I like about Simon Brett is the way he weaves into his intricate, funny and charming tales his own outrage at various facets of modern society. It works very well, I especially like the sly lampoon of the art world in this one. Delicious!

Entertaining & Great Narration
How I love Simon Brett - witty, entertaining and great plots in all of his series of books and I recommend them all . He is one of the very few authors who given his years of experience in radio drama actually narrates beautifully. I like other listeners would love to be in Mrs P’s gang !

Amusing cosy crime with tongue in cheek.
Simon Brett does not disappoint. Some great characters, from Mrs Pargeter to Truffler getting in some unlikely situations. I loved the rather snide comments on TV reality shows. Simon Brett narrates very well, giving all the characters an individual voice.

The unforgettable Mrs Pargetter
I LOVE all the Mrs Pargetter books, if only there were more on audible. Good plots, fabulously named characters, humour and suspense, they’ve got the lot!!
