About this listen

Why can't I be normal and happy like everyone else? Why do I always have problems? Why do I constantly feel as though I am not good enough? Why don't I love myself? Will I ever be loved?

Do these questions sound familiar?

A child who is abused by her parent will try to reduce the effects of the abuse on them, emotionally and psychologically, by scaling the abuse down. You might even find yourself trying to believe that you are not abused and that something happened which caused your mother to react abusively.

However, because many forms of narcissistic abuse, such as manipulation, slander, withholding, and emotional blackmail are not often discussed, people don’t think of these actions as abuse. Therefore, many children of narcissistic mothers don’t even realize that they are abused.

According to a recent study published on the American Journal of Psychiatry, someone with one or more indicators of childhood maltreatment had a chance of developing recurrent depression in later life around 2.27 times higher than that of people who had no history of maltreatment. Evidence suggests that childhood maltreatment may negatively affect not only the lifetime risk of depression but also clinically relevant measures of depression such as course of illness and treatment outcome.

Don’t you think it’s time to stop feeling guilty and inadequate?

Don’t you think you are mature enough to recognize how your narcissistic mother is still affecting your life, get her out of your head, and become who you really are?

I think, then, this book might help. I know you don’t need another book filled in with useless information. You just want to heal.

Here’s just a tiny fraction of what you’ll discover:

  • Ten signs of a narcissistic mother
  • Eleven signs of narcissistic abuse
  • Manipulative tactics
  • The effect on being raised as a daughter of a narcissistic mother
  • Ways how your narcissistic mother affects your mindset
  • Steps to allow your feelings to grow and accept them
  • Methods to learn the art of self-discipline
  • Self-compassion exercises
  • Ways to heal through mindful acts and thoughts
  • Ways to heal your subconscious mind
  • Six strategies to overcome anxiety
  • Ways to build the life you want, become the person you want to be

Your life is worth living, and you are an amazing person with great talents. Take the step to get yourself the help you need and deserve, so you can learn to understand narcissistic abuse, understand that you are a victim, and find ways to cope and overcome the abuse, so you can reach your full potential and live the best life possible.

I have to be honest: This won’t be easy, but I have been there and I have done that. That’s why I authored this book to help you get unstuck and transform your life forever. The decision is yours.

Great book with lots of answers

It’s like the author had met my mother! It was that accurate. It answered a lot of questions I had. Would have liked a little more self help solutions and some of my behaviours described - the results of having a parent like that. I enjoyed it, finished it quickly. The reader sounded robotic

Excellent

Really enjoyed this book. Full of value! Iy helped me to realise some parts which I had not fully discovered yet. I only woke up to my mother's narcissistic qualities a few months ago and this book helped me to see where and how I can heal. Thank you!
Highly recommended for those who think they have suffered narcissistic abuse-even if its not from a parent-I experienced a lot of abuse before finding the root!

This is my first review and I hate doing this...

I have been an Audible customer for barely over a month and have listened (and partly listened) to about 15 book during this time. So, a few things:

1. This is the first review I have left on Audible, and it is mostly due to the author's insistence, as she interrupted the book not once, but twice, to ask for a review (I did not do it immediately as instructed to do 1/3 and 2/3 through the book, because I wanted to listen to all of it before judging).
She emphasizes how important and difficult it is for authors to get reviews, and the first time I felt understanding (especially since she said she takes time to read every review), despite being annoyed that she cut the narrative short for a few minutes while encouraging the listener to do the review right away (only a few chapters into the book) and explaining the steps do leave a review. I was riding my bike while listening so I did not stop to fast forward, and the interruption annoyed me. Also, it is the first time I have come across this in any of the audiobooks I have listened to.
The second time however, my empathy turned into outright annoyance. We are encouraged to leave reviews at the end of the books and asking several times during is (IMHO) not cool. I like to listen to /read a book and digest it before judging.
BUT.... since the author wants the listener's opinion:
2. This book seriously needs an editor. I can not judge the spelling since I was listening to the Audiobook, but the amount of grammar mistakes made me cringe. I understand "not everyone talks good" and there are variations in speech, as well as what is considered normal in different cultures/accents, etc. but if you are going to publish a book, at least have it revised by someone who knows the basic rules of English grammar.
3. The book is way too superficial and simplistic compared to what the description leads one to expect. You can find the same information online for free. I imagine it may enlighten someone who has never heard of the concept before, but for people who have a minimum knowledge of psychology, have already undergone some therapy etc, it will not bring you any new insights.
I am giving this book low stars because I was fooled by all the 5-star reviews.

Rather disappointed in this book. The sample - wow I needed to download this book!!! I have done therapy and no I was raised by a narcissist but wanted a little top up as it seemed like this could help with self confidence after etc. I feel like the sample makes it seem like she has some really great tips and tricks on how to heal - but really it just sounds like a list you would get of google if you were to type 'how to heal from trauma' I dont feel like anything was groundbreaking at all. It started off well and got worse as the book went on. I suppose it would be good if you dont no the basics of narcissistic abuse and havent seeked any therapy but I feel like this advice is guessable - meditate ..journal etc

Really wish I had gone on Amazon to see the reviews of the paper as the reviews on there I wouldn't have downloaded.

I just thought the book would be more personal on her trauma - how she overcame it rather than what seems like a google list on what to do to heal - which doesn't really help and doesn't seem to match the sample of the book which I related to

I wanted to like it for the fact she asks for reviews and said she reads them all personally
