Summary

One Last Secret … would you kill to keep it?

One last client

A week at a beautiful French chateau should be an easy final job for Dora. She’s smart, stunning and discreet.

She only needs to convince the other guests that she’s Daniel’s girlfriend.

One last chance

One final, luxurious week and she can leave the dangerous, difficult escort world, because Dora has fallen in love and is ready to embrace a better future.

One last secret

But as the guests assemble, it becomes terrifyingly apparent that putting her past behind her is impossible. And one last secret could cost Dora everything, including her life…

From the Sunday Times Number One bestseller Adele Parks comes a blisteringly provocative novel about power, sex, money and revenge.

Unintelligent mega-drama!

Slow motion ’car crash’ writing & narration. Far-fetched, overreaching, gratuitous and melodramatic. Unlikeable characters— particularly the arrogant and cynical protagonist. The only emotion evoked is one of disappointment in myself for listening until the end. Hoping this trend of post-pandemic mega-drama is going to tire.

Very enjoyable

Really loved this story it was very authentic and interesting. But my 5 stars really are for the narrator. He was just fabulous. Probably the best narration I have heard to date

Superb narration satisfying story

The reader ramps up the drama hugely by reading exciting passages most expressively I enjoyed the whole book and was delighted to have guessed a couple of twists. Gaslighting, intent to murder and terrible secrets all collide to make a completely absorbing and atmospheric story I was so sorry to finish. Well worth a credit as it’s very long and full of surprises.

Intreaging and surprising read.
Thoroughly enjoyed it.
A bit slow to start and longer than my usual audio books but well worth the patience.

Gripping

I did not want to stop listening to this! It’s consumed my weekend! Excellent book and once finished I started re listening immediately because I felt like there was so many details that would make more sense/improve my view of the tale the second time.

Argh! Tedious and implausible

Oh dear… I had high hopes for this book having read a lot of rave reviews.
It started off well but once the work proposal was made that was it! I found it a ridiculous storyline.
It was hugely irritating, frustrating and painful!

Why did I continue listening? Well, I’d invested a fair amount of time by now and my curiosity won, so with the speed up to 1.8 I soldiered on. I just wanted to know why!
Was it worth finding out? Not really.
I thought there was a lot of unnecessary waffle and felt the story kept sticking in areas that I wanted to move on from.

I also found Dora not particularly likeable, I did try.
Overall this book certainly wasn’t one I’d recommend…. I’m sure you’d already guessed that though!
