A candid exploration of the state of outrage in our culture, and how we can channel it back into the fights that matter, from presenter and DJ Ashley 'Dotty' Charles.
Ours is a society where many exploit the outrage of others in order to gain power – and we all too quickly take the bait. But by shouting about everything, we are in fact creating a world where outrage is without consequence.
There is still much to be outraged by in our final frontier, but in order to enact change and become more effective online, we must learn to channel our responses.
This is the essential guide to living through the age of outrage.

Love all things dotty
Whether it be a radio show, podcast or book, Dotty is able to express what so many of us think and feel. She does what she wants and says what she likes and I love it!!! Perfect read for these (rightly) outrageous times.

Succinct, timely, and refreshing commentary
This is an excellent book. Not everyone will enjoy it, particularly as the author makes some courageous comments about big social issues. But ironically this is the subtext of the book. It is engaging, original, and accessible.
The author is not advocating for people not to care or to not push back against injustice or all forms of ‘ism’ oppression, alluded to by others; in fact, I think she’s arguing on quite the contrary. She does take a unique and often controversial approach, but this offers a thought-provoking listen … if, of course, you come to the text ready to be challenged. Listen carefully and with an open mind, and this book becomes a springboard for conversation. If you leave ‘outraged’ by the text, you’ve probably missed the point.
This is the first I’ve ever heard of ‘Dotty’, but I’ll be looking out for more.

LOVE
This book hit so many home truths about the culture that exists of shouting into the void of social media for the sake of shouting into the void of social media. I found it incredibly articulate, hilarious and thought-provoking and will now be carefully considering my output online (and in real life). 5/5, even considering listening again.

An interesting take on a current topic
Through the stories of recent public outrage stories (Rachel Dolezal and Jamie's Jerk Rice) and outrage-mongers ( Katie Hopkins and Piers Morgan ), this book discusses the effectiveness of public outrage and its basis in performative activism.
