About this listen
When NYPD detective Callum Doyle’s partner is murdered, and then his replacement is also brutally killed, suspicion falls on Doyle himself. Then he receives an anonymous message: This is just the beginning. Anyone he gets close to will die - and that includes his family.
Desperate to find out who is responsible, but with his every move putting others in danger, Doyle has to ask himself: how low would he sink in order to get his life back?

Not my favourite
I really like thus author but thus isn't my favourite. I started day dreaming on several occasions and had to go back again and again.

Enjoyable and intriguing
Having enjoyed Jackson's Body books, I though I'd try one of his New York ones. It was enjoyable, with a good main character, and an original story keeping me guess ing until the end well read too.

Another great series from David Jackson.
Plenty of plot twists without being overly complex to follow. Good Chas and excellent narration.

Series that could have legs
As a fan of crime thrillers and especially Roy Grace, Harry Bosch and Logan McRae, I was looking for a new series to get into as I'm up to date with all the others. I was pleasantly surprised with this debut outing for Callum Doyle. This series shows promise and could develop into a long running winner for David Jackson. Already downloaded the next instalment. Keep them coming.

Great story.
Really good story. Characters not as deep as the Nathan Cody series but a good start, hopefully they will develop more in future books.
Could have done without some of the Plastic Paddy Irish stereotypes. And narrator should research how to pronounce "Slainte". Accents were all over the place too.

A lot of promise but dull ending
The story was good initially with complex character links and a view from the killer’s perspective. It kept you wondering who it was…personally the big reveal was a boring anticlimax and it ended badly from a good start.

Disappointed
The story itself was great but sadly the narration was a huge disappointment.
The only reason I kept listening until the end was because as usual David Jackson wrote another fantastic story, but it was very difficult to continue listening to the poor narration.
As a result, I won’t be using audible to listen to any more of the series, I’ll read them instead.

Another excellent David Jackson book
This guy is the best living crime writer. This story is also brilliantly narrated and I am gradually ploughing through every book DJ has written

Disappointed after reading A Tapping at my Door
I thought I'd try this after really enjoying A Tapping at my Door by the same author. I can't believe it was written by the same man. Dont know if it's cause the first book was set in uk and read by an English narrator that I could relate to it more (I'm from uk), but the story, writing style and narration style just didn't draw me in. I found it a struggle to listen to and only sat it out so as not to waste a credit; in fact this is the first time I've increased listening speed as the standard speed added to the pain! After the first book I thought I'd discovered a new author to follow but don't think I'll try any more books now.
