Summary
The chief scientist at the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) turns a critical eye toward such practices as telepathy, clairvoyance, precognition, and psychokinesis. Are such powers really possible? Science says yes.
According to noted scientist and best-selling author of The Conscious Universe, Dean Radin, magic is a natural aspect of reality, and each of us can tap into this power with diligent practice.
But wait, aren't things like ESP and telepathy just wishful thinking and flights of the imagination? Not according to the author, who worked on the US government's top secret psychic espionage program known as Stargate. Radin has spent the last 40 years conducting controlled experiments that demonstrate that thoughts are things, that we can sense others' emotions and intentions from a distance, that intuition is more powerful than we thought, and that we can tap into the power of intention (think The Secret, only on a more realistic and scientific level). These dormant powers can help us to lead more interesting and fulfilling lives.
Beginning with a brief history of magic over the centuries (what was called magic 2,000 years ago is turning out to be scientific fact today), a review of the scientific evidence for magic, a series of simple but effective magical techniques (the key is mental focus, something elite athletes know a lot about), Radin then offers a vision of a scientifically informed magic and explains why magic will play a key role in frontiers of science.

Accessible and thought provoking
This a good book for anyone suspecting to feel Magik is real. It goes through some theory, some metaphysics and practical aspects of the art. In addition it has a good explanation of much of the research done in the field.

Hmmmm
Its a bit of a conundrum, everyone at a base level knows theres more to life than meets the eye, and I do think that what hes saying under all the waffle is largely true. However, it could have been a lot more interesting its mostly a study of experiments with long boring descriptions of what took place, control groups, how many studies blah blah which is fine I guess but not entertaining, as for a guide to the secret power of the universe, he must have slipped that in somewhere I didn't notice or maybe someone was speaking to me and it slipped by, I dont really like to be negative, but in the end it just came off as an "look at me aint I edgy" kind of thing.

Absolutely bored me to tears
I find this to be a great skill where either a narrator or author can make something so interesting so boring, after 6 chapters I could take no more and returned, plus I felt compelled to write a review which I hardly ever do. This audio book is pure waffle, it's like the guy is having a conversation with himself whilst high on a posh space cake, very disappointing!

A Most Important Listen
I wish every scientist would read/listen to this book, regardless if their speciality.
It is probably the most comprehensive summary of the evidence for magic I have encountered in 30 years.
I stepped away from my practice for a decade or so when I married and started a family. Just as I thought about starting up again, this book was recommended to someone else in a YouTube comment; on a video that came on after something I was watching, whilst I was washing the dishes. I bought the audiobook and I have been utterly astonished that it is exactly what I have been looking for.
I doubt that was a coincidence, because I know better. I wonder how far into this book you will need to get before the penny drops for you... that magic IS real?
