Summary

In a blink, I found myself in an unknown land, greeted by the textbox of an unfriendly system.

It wanted me to become a great hero, save the world, win the love of the people and all that crap. But this new world already had a hero. Why should I bust my ass, deal with dragons and the unknown, for people I didn't know? Let him deal with that. It's his job! So instead of being tempted by the system's nonsense, I chose a simple class. Potion maker. I wasn't interested in cultivating mana and defying the heavens, courting death, none of that crap.

Unfortunately, the town I spawned near was suffering crippling inflation, merchants and people were leaving, and they themselves lacked high-demand businesses. The town would soon be going under.

Not if I have anything to say about it.

But will it be that easy to escape fate...?

Novel contains: Strong MC in a slice of life environment, dungeon diving, boss battles, cultivation and elements, mana/magic, mc exclusive system but it doesn't do the work for him, treasures, adventurers, slow world building, build-up, features that will not be introduced all at once (upgrades so on), actual good loot at the end of very powerful bosses, romance (no harem). As characters develop throughout the series, issues and emotions and even the mc may find himself in a corner or two. A story of an upcoming potion shopkeeper and his apprentices.

Building an S-ranked Potion Shop is easier said than done...

interesting

really loved the storyline. I always enjoy the slice of life stories and this was no exception. Alvin writes pretty well.
the characters were interesting and the world building was awesome. There were certain points where it felt like info dumps but overall great work. Narration was pretty good too.

This book is almost as good as cake

Rise of the Cheat Potion Maker by @Alvin_Atwater. Bang and we have another promising contender entering the ring. Atwater's imaginative writing shows a lot of promise in the #litRPG genre. Simply put, I loved this book, particularly the strong characters 📚5/5🌟 #BookReview

A great start to a series that I will follow

At my request I received a copy of this audiobook in order to give a fair and unbiased review

Genre: LitRPG with romance
Explicit/adult material: None.

Nate is suddenly transported to a foreign land with rules and creatures that reminds him of an RPG game.
He is given a set of choices of class, several of which are clearly setting him up to be the main hero of some grand arch.
Wanting to just leave in peace he chooses to become a potion maker and tries to settle in to a nearby village.

Narrator
Voice diversity: Good. So good. Every character has their own distinct voice and that voice is clearly a match for their personality and background.
Pacing and intonation: Very good.
Matt Hicks and Allie Piper are delivering the best narration I have ever heard. I will certainly seek them out when looking for future listens.
Overall: 5 / 5 stars.

Writing
The book is fun, exciting, relatable and despite the wishes of the main character and epic fantasy adventure.
I absolutely love the pets and how they are used and their role in this story.
In extremely well written. I want more.

The book’s strengths.
- Fantastic narration
- The characters are likeable and distinct.
- The setting is fun and communicated with humour.
- I love the pets.
- A main character that could have a harem, but chooses not to.

The book’s weaknesses.
- The rest of the series is not out on audible yet (as of 2022-10-26)

Overall: 5/5 stars

Entertaining but with boring passages

Overall I enjoyed it.
some different concepts introduced, but a bit too much plot armor feeling all the way through.
Like you never had too think how is mc gonna solve this as it just randomly happened for him.

The main voice actor was very good, however the second one had low quality setup which made transitions sound terrible. also she was not great at using different voices for characters. I had no idea who she was trying to imitate when talking as it was basically identical voice.

I recommend to series (at time of 4 books)

Overall: 10/10
Perf: 9/10
Story 10/10

Regarding perf:
I've deducted one point because sometimes you can hear that the VA have put (presumably) their hand over their mouth face or something. This doesn't reduce my enjoyment, i just noticed. It happens through all 4 books.

Story is enjoyable, with just the right amount of cursing, the word is consistent with it's logic, the author is about 95% consistent in the writing. Voice actors are great, production is great, chaptererisation is good, length is acceptable.

The word is colourful, reasonably deep story has some nice twists and turns but at it's core still an isekai powerfantasy. If you're into the ganre, you won't regret buying it. If you're not / not familiar, give it a shot. 1 credit is not a lot to try and you can always refund, but i don't think you will.

Entertaining book with excellent narration.

I hadn’t encountered this author or narrator(s) before, the story flows well, with regular entertaining anecdotes.
The story line hints at elements to come and I look forward to seeing how the series develops. The writer was unknown to me and is one I will be following, I am looking forward to the next instalment in the series
The male narrator brings to life the humour contained within the story, the characters inflection and tone are prefect.
