About this listen
Something went wrong. Something went very wrong….
Against his will, Thaden was transported elsewhere in a big flash of light along with millions of other Humans from Earth, to a place where they would train to become Contenders in a whole new world. Unfortunately for him, something occurred during his transference into the “Training” program, and he was ejected from the whole training process and sent into the open mouth of an active volcano for bodily disposal.
Through a miraculous and horrifying series of events, Thaden managed to survive, only to find himself alone in the middle of a dungeon with no clothes, no weapons, and no way to defend himself. Worst of all, the strange new Assimilation System automatically assigned a Class to him without his knowledge, which ended up sticking him with a Support-based Class that has absolutely no offensive capabilities. As an Assistant Healer, none of his spells did any damage and he couldn’t even pick up a weapon to defend himself if he wanted to!
But all hope isn’t lost, as Thaden quickly learns something unique about himself that might just allow him to survive long enough to escape the dungeon. Sure, all his new magical spells might be focused on healing and protection, but what does it mean when he seemingly won’t ever run out of Mana…?
This story contains an overpowered MC with a normally non-combat Class, LitRPG progression mechanics and stats, and isekai/portal fantasy elements. Contains no sexual content or harems.

Good idea for a story.
There is a decent story here, but the constant explanations, followed by the exact same explanation (just worded differently) needs to be edited out. At least for the audio version.
It absolutely grind the flow of the story to a halt.

Looking forward to book 2
Jonathan Brooks is more well known for his dungeon core books but he has pull this one off very well
Miles Meili did a good job narrating this but i only gave his performance 4 stars as i personally didn't think his voice fit the MC.

Unconventional
A fresh take on the genre, Interesting world building and an engaging storyline, I've always enjoyed the "glitched" type of story, so I found this book very entertaining. Already looking forward to the next one!

Absolutely awesome !
Really enjoyed this book. Both the story and the narration are excellent. Special call out for a great approach to having a somewhat OP character that still doesn’t get everything they’d wish for. Double points for having a Healer class MC do that! Some great humour that causes laugh out loud moments. Heartily recommended!

Fantastic book !!!
Unexpected Healer is a great litrpg read. It managed to incorporate all the things we love about the genre and still brought new ideas to the table. If you know Jonathan Brookes from his Dungeon Core books, you won’t be disappointed with his latest offering and if you are yet to read any of Mr Brookes previous books, do yourself a huge favour and check them out soon. I have it on good authority, the next instalment of Unexpected Healer will be out this year, can’t wait!! 5 star

A must for your library.
What a great read, I was hooked by the first chapter. I thought the Fusionist was a great series but then Johnathan had to release this as I was midway through Station Core. I can't wait for book two to be released and at the rate his books are released, it won't be a long wait.

Enjoyable
As with all of Jonathan's book, he manages to find a nice balance between crunchy, immersion and story telling. Plenty of hard stats but they are focused to times when the MC actually has time to review all his notifications, and "blue boxes" never break the flow of the story. Regarding the story, it is well thought out, with interesting side quests and an exciting well paced main plot that has great potential to grow in future books. Overall a very enjoyable listen!
