Summary

Raise the hue and cry!

A wealthy merchant has been murdered in his own home, and the suspect has fled to sanctuary in a local church. Enter Sir Faucon de Ramis, the king's new keeper of the peas, to solve the murder, assisted by his prickly secretary, Brother Edmund.

This time, the hunt leads Sir Faucon into the upside-down world of a woman's trade where the merchant's wife owns the business - Unheard of! - only to discover he isn't the only one on the hunt.

Good short Story

While a bit short it gets straight onto the mystery. The story is focused and enjoyable and unlike many similar stories sticks to the mystery and doesn't try to force in romantic side plots.

Crime in another time

Part of my enjoyment of this series is bringing the picture of life in medieval times into being.

A good mystery

An enjoyable story, colourful characters, good plot and excellent use of language backed up with a good research. I love the setting and scenery described so vividly. The narrator is a cherry on the top. Definitely recommend this book.
