A really good Star Trek story

Summary
An original novel based on the acclaimed Star Trek TV series!
The USS Enterprise has been granted the simple but unavoidable honor of ferrying key guests to Betazed for a cultural ceremony. En route, sudden tragedy strikes a Federation science station on the isolated planet Kota, and Captain Jean-Luc Picard has no qualms sending William Riker, Data, and Chief Medical Officer Beverly Crusher to investigate. But what begins as routine assignments for the two parties soon descends into chaos: Picard, Worf, and Deanna Troi must grapple with a dangerous diplomatic crisis as historic artifacts are stolen in the middle of a high-profile ceremony...while nothing is as it seems on Kota. A mounting medical emergency coupled with the science station’s failing technology - and no hope of rescue - has Doctor Crusher racing against time to solve a disturbing mystery threatening the lives of all her colleagues....

Tolerable Star Trek TNG yarn but lacking in wonder
This audiobook had a story that was a bit long winded and a little boring in half of the story namely, the Away team featuring Data, Riker and Crusher. The other half was marginally better.
The audiobook was brilliantly narrated by Robert Petkoff and was a delight to listen to. However the story didn't match up to the narration and was missing the awe and marvel of a great Sci Fi tale.

Boring
As a life long Star Trek TNG fan I struggled to get through this book. The plot was incredibly boring and even the excellent narration of Robert Petkoff couldn't save it. I was initially drawn to this book because it is set in series 7 of TNG which made a welcome change from more recent Trek books which are set on the Enterprise E, but I was just so disappointed. I wish I could give a better review as I love finding new Trek audiobooks but I just didn't enjoy this I'm afraid.

Not what I expected but still very good.
When this book first got announced, I thought it would be a continuation in the post-Nemesis storyline that The Next Generation novels have focused on over the last few years. As in the next book after David Macks awesome Collateral Damage. It's not that at all. Apparently THAT storyline will actually be ending later this year with the Star Trek Coda trilogy. (But this new book still might have something to do with the upcoming trilogy because a place called Coda does get referenced.)
This actually takes place during season 7 of TNG, just before the series finale All Good Things. And I found that very refreshing. The last few years the only TNG books I have been reading focus on that post-Nemesis storyline. So it was nice changing it up and going back to a story that takes place during the show.
Season 7 is not my favorite season of TNG, but I think it is definitely the most underrated season and I love it. So it's nice seeing a novel that specifically focuses on that time.

Good Story,
The story was good. It took a long while for things to start making sense in the Coda plot. The only other small thing is that the ranks and positions were a bit off. Data and Geordi should be referred to as Commanders rather than lieutenants, as their rank is lieutenant-commander. Also, Data was referred to as the executive officer, and that's Commander Riker's position. Aside from that, everything worked.

Shadows Have Disappointed (still recommend)
Shadows have Offended did a great job breathing some life into the dying IP. Read just like a classic TNG A/B storyline episode with plot 'A' being a 7/10 and plot 'B' being 6/10. Plot A (with Worf) does take a minute to get into but picked up momentum towards the end, Plot B (Beach) was boring, hard to visualize and had an unsatisfying conclusion.
While not a member of the Enterprise-D, R. Petkoff is clearly a fan an had fun with the different roles. Nothing spectacular on display in the performance or story, just solid, classic TNG and I accepted that greedily even I was hoping for a more engaging story.
Still recommend regardless because the success of TNG books determines the future of the series on audible. Star Trek needs some love on this platform as the book titles and cover art is a mess..

Excellent choice for TNG fans
I honestly haven’t been able to get into most Star Trek novels but this one was great! Exactly like an episode of the show & with Deanna Troi & Beverly Crusher w Worf taking the lead - and those are three of my favorite characters, too! 5/5 stars, can’t wait for more gems like this with someone who truly understands the characters and universe!

At first I didnt think this book would be a good, but I'm sure glad I listened to it. The narrator did an awesome job with the voices of the various characters. Some parts were comical, especially interactions between Picard and Deanna's mom. The story line was was great . I really like how they figured it out regarding the life forms. It was a very good listen.

Robert Petkoff is superb, the story isn't
Great narration for two different sub-par stories contained in the book, completely unrelated to each other. Despite the cover, it has almost nothing to do with Worf who is a minor character. It's mainly a Crusher and Troi book. There are some plot holes and ignored characters. Geordi was barely in the book and should have played a larger role for one of the two stories at hand. Numerous incorrect details will jump out to Star Trek fans, such as the wrong ranks for main characters. The stories weren't compelling. There are many better Trek novels.

A halfway decent daytime space opera episode
it was ok. story was mildly interesting. unfortunately the author missed important details l
Lt. Cmdr Data's rank. It was a decent effort. Pektoff performed masterfully. For instance: he whispered when the scene called for whispering even when the author didn't state "he whispered"
