Summary

The war of Troy is looming, and all the kings of the Great Green are gathering, friends and enemies, each with their own dark plans of conquest and plunder.

Into this maelstrom of treachery and deceit come three travellers: Piria, a runaway priestess nursing a terrible secret; Kalliades, a warrior with a legendary sword; and Banokles, who will carve his own legend in the battles to come.

Shield of Thunder takes the listener back into the glories and tragedies of Bronze Age Greece, reuniting the characters from Lord of the Silver Bow: the dread Helikaon and his great love, the fiery Andromache, as well as the mighty Hektor and the fabled storyteller, Odysseus.

Brilliant Blend of History & Fiction

Great series, Gemmell develops the characters quickly and effectively, His style of writing paints wonderful word pictures, you can see the big screen in your mind bursting with action and passion. If movie rights have not been agreed it’s an opportunity lost for us all.

Amazing trilogy of books

I have read this trilogy of books several times and they blow me away every time I read them.

And Thomas Judd's performance of them just enhances the story.

Absolutely fantastic!

Even better than book 1

The continuation of of this clever retelling of the story of Troy continues with masterful management of characters, real emotion and genuine humour.

Incredible, as always for Gemmell

The middle of any trilogy is sometimes accused to simply bridging the beginning and ending, whihh themselves contain all the highlights. This is definitely not the case with Shield of Thunder. There is so much emotional impact packed into this book, and the story is brilliantly constructed.

All filler

This book is awful. The first book was an easy entertaining read. This book feels like he had enough material for maybe 2 books but was told to make it a trilogy. It is full of filler and no life.

Simply the best trilogy ever written.

Part 1, Lord of the Silver Bow. I challenge anybody that doesn't love this. Pleasantly surprised at the narrator as this is my favourite book, I was worried about it being ruined by him. But he did a decent job.

David

Brilliant that's all I can say, but they say it is got to be fifteen words long or they don't post it, however anyone who has read David Gemmell's stories knows he was one of the best writers ever.
