Summary

The conclusion of Tad Williams' brilliant Bobby Dollar series.

Bobby Dollar thinks he's seen it all - after all, he's been to Hell and back again. Literally. But he has another thing coming.

Sleeping Late on Judgement Day will find Bobby back in his adopted hometown of San Judas, California, trying to stay out of trouble...and failing. His love life is still a mess, there are one too many people who have it out for him, and drowning his sorrows in a nice glass of whisky won't keep the demons at bay forever.

Bobby's going to have to pull himself together and make a few tough decisions before time runs out. The problem is, time could run out at any moment.

In the final Bobby Dollar novel in Tad Williams' groundbreaking epic fantasy trilogy, fallen angel Bobby Dollar will finally be forced to confront the one problem he can't talk his way out of: his own.

Dire narration

A Decent story but ruined by narrator
Wish they’d stuck with actor from book 1

Narration is terrible

Would you try another book written by Tad Williams or narrated by Tim Flavin?

Tim Flavin is the wrong guy for this book. Story was good but narration spoiled it for me.

How could the performance have been better?

Another narrator please !

Tim Flavin ruins Bobby Dollar Again

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

The story is good.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Bobby Dollar Himself

How could the performance have been better?

Tim Flavin is just not able to do these books justice. The first book in the Bobby Dollar set was narrated by a guy name Joe May and he was really good and they should have stuck with him.

Was Sleeping Late on Judgement Day worth the listening time?

I think I would buy the print or kindle version because yeah Tim Flavin really is that bad.

The Series is very much a Curate's Egg:

Would you consider the audio edition of Sleeping Late on Judgement Day to be better than the print version?

No

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Fulfilling.

What aspect of Tim Flavin’s performance might you have changed?

His characterisations are not secure.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No

Any additional comments?

This part of the Trilogy rescued the poorness of the second book but not to any great extent.

Got so lost I couldn't stop reading

out of the three books in the series I think number two happy hour in hell is my favourite
the characters were very imaginative and the narrators vocal characterizations were right on the money except for book 3 but by then you're so wrapped up in the story your imagination takes over well done Tad Williams you have some imagination BTW this is my second time reading this series I probably will read it next year again

Was that it?

Book three was 17 hrs. I thought this was in two parts so was confused when I heard Epilogue! The ending seemed to be leading into another phase, but no, that was the ending. If I did listen for 17 hrs then that says something about book three. Book two I was counting down every dragged out second. Enjoyed book one, mainly due to the narration and novelty of the storyline. The narration and accents in books two and three were terrible. Liked the concept but execution- nah!

Not as good as his earlier works

I found this hard going and nearly gave up more than once. Admittedly it was the first I had listened to rather than read but you know there is something wrong when you get quarter of the way into book one before you realise that you have read the book already.

Enjoyable.

Make sure you read the other two in the trilogy first though. 😉

The main characters and the concept is a new one and works well.

fantastic bobby dollar story

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

loved this book; really good to listen to and engaging all of the way through - Angel doloriel leads such as interesting life

What did you like best about this story?

really good to hear a story written in the first person and doloriel - bobby dollar - is such an interesting and well rounded character in a story rich in detail and twisting plots. one of Tad williams finest

What does Tim Flavin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

tim brought all of the characters to life and filled out the story and this made me listen to every word instead of skipping any bits. i particularly liked his calrence voices

Any additional comments?

i hope there are more Bobby Dollar stories
