About this listen
From Wall Street Journal best-selling author Ilsa Madden-Mills comes a new stand-alone romance about a flawed hero and the woman he can’t forget.
"She crossed my path and changed my whole direction."
He calls himself Spider. I just knew him as the sinfully gorgeous guy with eyes of fire that fate sat next to me on the airplane.
I didn’t know who he really was...British rock star...my stepbrother. He kissed me because he thought we’d never see each other again. We would.
Everyone warned me about him. They told me he was ruthless and cold and screwed up. They said he’d leave me with a hole in my heart.
Maybe I should have listened. Maybe I should have built up a fortress to keep him out. But I crumbled instead.
They say an unbreakable thread connects those who are destined to meet. If that’s true, then the moment he sat next to me, we were bound together forever. He just had to figure it out before it’s too late....

Good.. I think. Difficult to rate.
Overall I think I’ll stick with a 4 star rating. I was absorbed in the story and didn’t get bored at any point. It was well narrated and decently written, and is comparable to other slightly angsty romance novels out there, and is better than many.
But ..and there is a but. This book is probably more suited to readers in their late teens/early twenties people, especially the big chunk at the start when the heroine is 17. There’s other women involved after the lead characters have met and that felt uncomfortable (as it was supposed to), cheating, and I generally felt a disconnect with the characters in the book. I started to dislike the heroine as the book went on. If you like books and relationships with a bit of drama and a rocky road to relationship bliss, then this is for you.
However, it can’t be denied I listened to this book all in one go and I’ll be getting more books by this author. I just hope the storylines and characterisation are a bit different in their other stories. If you buy this book with the caveats in mind that I outlined above, and that’s what you’re after, then you won’t be disappointed.
