Summary

The Federation races to discover the culprits of several terrorist attacks, sending their flagship, the USS Prometheus, to stop war breaking out in the galaxy.

The situation in the Lembatta Cluster is deteriorating rapidly. Fleets from the Federation and Klingon Empire are heading for the borders. The crews of the USS Prometheus and IKS Bortas are racing against time to break the cycle of violence that is spreading through the Alpha Quadrant.

Adams and Kromm are on the trail of a secret weapons facility but instead discover an enemy from their pasts who seems utterly unstoppable. Together, they search for the answers to their questions before the galaxy goes down in flames.

A really good Star Trek story

A really good story, intertwining new characters with old ones.

my only criticism is the narrators mispronounciation of some words through the series. But overall, a good read / listen.

This readers mispronunciations was annoying

This was a very good book and a very good trilogy. The only thing that let the books down was the constant mispronunciations of the reader. His mispronunciations of well known Star Trek characters names and planets names were bad enough but in this book he kept mispronouncing a well known real world naval rank “adjutant”
I found it all very annoying but having said that I still enjoyed these books very much.

Fantastic conclusion to an enjoyable trilogy!

A very enjoyable end to the trilogy in true Trek style. My only criticism would be that there are a few (somewhat forgiveable) mispronunciations of Trek lingo, but these do not affect the otherwise excellent performance from the narrator. Well worth a listen!

Enjoyable but felt oddly off

So, is it Star Trek?
Yep this is Star Trek and I enjoyed how they kept it from beginning big space battles and found other very Star Trek solutions.
But at the same time the characters felt slightly off beat, and after introducing some old characters they promptly didn’t really make use of them. Almost like they didn’t have time to make use of such a big cast, but the. Threw in scenes that just extended a run time with no real benefit.

That said, it was a good listen, and I’ll listen to it again soon.

Over all a good Trek Story

I sadly grabbed this and started on Book 3 but it was not hard to jump in there. It was a well crafted story and well narrated. I suppose I wouldn't write much at all but one thing grated on my nerves. The narrator being from the UK would naturally pronounce many words not in the American style. No problem. However, it bothered me that the director or producer did not provide the artist with accepted pronunciations of Trek works. Species names, Trek techno-jargon. Character names. He was not briefed on how to say words like Raktajino or even the proper way to say Kieko O'Brien. This is not the author or actors issue. I think the producer dropped the ball here and it really pulled me out of my Trek groove as I enjoyed the rest of the experience.

Started off good..

Started off with a boom, then kind meandered and ended up okay. Solid narration by Newman

The series got off to a great start, but the ending was pretty anti-climactic

Like I stated in the headline, the first two books in the series were pretty good and I liked the way things were going. However by the end of the third book everything felt like it came to the crew of the Prometheus just a little too easy.

A timely appearance by a certain crusher at one point, or and inexplicable visit to earth by Diana Troi’s mother.

There were parts of the story that just felt like they were dropping names for the sake of dropping names.

The narration was absolutely excellent although the narrator could’ve tried a little harder pronouncing Star Trek words and klingon words in particular.

The first two books in the series I would give four or five stars however the third book in the story is is lucky to receive two stars. Sort of an uneventful ending to an uneventful mission

Ok story.

The narrator murdered every pronunciation he possibly could. Was there any consultation? Story was ok. Lost me a few times.

Slightly anti-climatic

For the most part an improvement over the first two in the series, but the climax as oddly dissatisfying. I think it was because of the climax of the Red Sun issue. How do you confront the challenge, pass out, then wake up and its all over??? What happened in between?

Awful

The story line jumped all over the place. Worst yet was the reader. Not only did he mispronounce planets and species, but all characters sounded exactly the same. Alec Newman obviously is no Trekkie. I quit listening.

Great story

but holy crap some of the pronunciations of proper nouns and others...needed work. it would have been a far more enjoyable experience otherwise but overall I enjoyed it. Maybe I'm being nit-picky.

Pronunciations

My only problem is that some of the pronunciations strayed from the canonical pronunciations.

a good conclusion to a story.

it was a good story like the previous books however, it was just a slow story. but this last book was much more exciting than the first two. but it was a good Star Trek story all the same. I also thought that the narrator did a very good job.
