Nostalgic for childhood summers a world away from his manic Melbourne life, Dave Johnson purchases a secluded house in a postcard-perfect coastal town. A savvy investment, he convinces his wife. One year on, and his seaside dream has turned into one big headache, with his tenants not paying rent, and now simply vanishing into thin air, leaving all their belongings behind. Summoned back to the house to inspect the abandoned property, Dave and his wife Lisa become trapped in the isolated spot after their car breaks down. Spooked and alone, they become lured into investigating what really happened to their mysterious tenants.

What a twist
This was a great little story. When it started I almost felt it was going to be one I abandoned but I'm so glad I didn't. I'm not overly fond of supernatural stories. However it soon transpired that there was a perfectly logical reason for all the strange going ons.

Very good
Only 4 hours long and from the Plus catalogue (free), this was entertaining. What I liked best was the realistic portrayal of the marriage of the two main characters. A damning and accurate picture of a stale marriage a good few years in. As the song says, there’s a thin line between love and hate. The story was good. Yes maybe a tad predictable but it was well paced with a good ending. Not sure it needed a male and a female narrator. The chapters alternated between him and her but that does not necessitate two voices. Overall a pretty good 4 hour story - especially at no cost

Spooky!
Quite liked the build up in this short story and how it gradually got very spooky indeed, twisted nicely in a very (British style) Tales of the Unexpected way .. well narrated - enjoyed!
