Summary
Tony Banks and his comrades of the 2nd Battalion of the Parachute Regiment were highly trained, but nothing could prepare them for the intensity and ferocity of fighting to liberate the Falkland Islands.
Plunged into a war of night attacks and vicious close-quarters combat, Banks and his fellow soldiers' fierce bravery and determination saw them through the bloodiest conflict British troops had faced in decades. Seventeen men died at Goose Green, a hard-fought battle the paras came close to losing.
After the Falklands, Banks suffered years of debilitating combat stress, a battle only recently won when he met his former enemies and laid the demons to rest.

Account from the sharp end
A very interesting account of the war from the perspective of a young Para, the author has done well to preserve and recount his experiences and feelings without allowing these to be influenced through the passage of time. The author’s views evolve as he describes his experiences and feelings after the conflict in a way the very realistically reflects how we change as people over time.
For the historians there is detail here which I have found nowhere else, who knew, other than those on the ground at the time, that 2 Para tabbed to Goose Green twice? Having served in the Army in the late 80’s and 90’s that sounds about right - ‘Get on the bus.........get off the bus........’

Awesome
Brilliant story of both sides of the conflict.. honestly I was really moved by this emotive description of what was a brutal episode in English and Argentina history.

So much more than a war story
This book resonated with me as a child of the 60s and 70s in Scotland.The authors memoirs of growing up were heart warming and laced with humour. The war is seen in very personal terms and the follow on dealing with the subject of ptsd was a great inclusion. War is for life, not just the term of the battle. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it passed the time on lengthy commutes.
I wish, as an ex GPMG gunner that the narrator had been informed that the guns nickname was pronounced "jimpy". Just a small point.

Fantastic Book
Probably this is the best book I have listened to, as the reference to Dundee so accurated for the time. Such an eye opener for both sides. I hope Tony Banks writes more books

Outstanding
Where does Storming the Falklands rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This audiobook is one of my favourite to date! Great to listen too on a long drive!
What was one of the most memorable moments of Storming the Falklands?
I enjoyed the various viewpoints from both sides of the conflict.

Appreciation for a enthralling true account.
Every interesting account of the authors time during the Falklands War and I thought the emphasis on PTSD and Combat Stress was excellent. As a veteran of the Gulf and Afghanistan conflicts I have experienced these effects on many of my fellow veterans. I live near Aldershot and continue to be appalled by how many ex-servicemen are living homeless and lonely lives...
