About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

To understand how to empower yourself, first of all you have to recognise and accept your vulnerability.

In Stronger, Gareth shares how he has managed to deal with the adversity life has thrown at him over the years, from his school years to his most recent difficult announcement that he is living with HIV.

Gareth's incredible willingness to expose his deepest emotional frailties as a man and come through even stronger as a result have made him a national hero and a role model for us all. Whether he is confronting the physical challenges of an Iron Man, or the mental resilience needed to be true to who you are, or weighing the medals and trophies he's won alongside the mistakes he's made, Gareth is unwaveringly honest.

An inspirational rallying call, Stronger is a vital listen for anyone who wants to turn their fear into a strength and to not only survive, but to thrive.

Thank you

The book was amazing and heartfelt. thank you Gareth for opening up and sharing your life with us readers. Something you said about just wanting to be a nice person, that is what i have always aspired to but never said it out loud. I will now. Also wud like to thank Mathew Gravelle for a beautiful voice and love the dialect.

wow

Already knew some of the back story to this book after watching the BBC documentary about training for iron man Wales , but still a massive eye opener and I now intend to fund out more, educate myself and my kids with regards to living with HIV as like Gareth I grew up in the 80's with that shocking TV advert.

Raw & honest

Just WOW. So raw, honest, and beautiful. Gareth is obviously 100% a family man before anything else & very proud to be one of us welsh. Speaking so openly and honestly about all his battles he’s not only a hero for hiv & lgbt communities he’s also a hero for men’s mental health. Narrator again absolutely spot on. You become so lost in the story that you forget it’s a narrator. Amazing thank you Gareth

A wonderful read

Enjoyed listening to every minute of this book. It kept me engaged from start to finish. Pretty unusual achievement for myself. Thanks for sharing this journey which I’m sure is already greatly helping thousands of people on their own journey too.

What an inspirational lad!

The book is fantastic and so open. After listening I feel that not only have I learned about who Alfie really is, but also been further educated in what discrimination is and how it really affects people. The man should be in schools talking to kids!
If you’re looking for a detailed breakdown of his rugby career this isn’t the book for you. However if you want to hear the unbelievable journey he has gone on this is a must read/listen.
