About this listen
A double suicide. A dark investigation into historic abuse. Can DI Ruth Hunter link the present killings to secrets of the past before the killer strikes again?
Detective Inspector Ruth Hunter has resolved to put her past life in London behind her. So when two seemingly routine suicides start to look suspicious, Ruth is keen to throw herself into a new investigation, lead her CID team and solve what appears to be a complex case. However, as the former London detective digs into the past of the victims’ lives, she uncovers a dark web of abuse within the music industry.
Tracking down clues alongside her hot-headed partner DS Nick Evans, Ruth becomes increasingly frustrated by an investigation where there is no obvious prime suspect. It’s not until there is a shocking twist, that Ruth and her team are able to put the pieces together of a baffling case. Can she track down the killer before they disappear for good?
The Berwyn River Killings is the fifth book in the gripping Ruth Hunter Crime Thriller series. If you like chilling police procedurals, true-to-life characters, and psychological twists, then you’ll love Simon McCleave’s pause-resister.

Talk about a rollercoaster
Brilliant book again by Simon.. I’m literally listening to one after another and none have disappointed .. The ending left me a bit .. ‘ You can’t leave it there ‘ mood , but this just means I need to listen to the next book in the series .. Fab narration once again .. highly recommend

Brilliant story in a brilliant series!
Loving this series - the characters are really evolving now, some sadly in a downward spiral, but nonetheless enjoyable for it. However, I do hope breaks will be caught soon!! I am listening to these back to back so here’s hoping….. Excellent narration from Deryn Edwards as always - she really brings Ruth Hunter & team to life - whatever the accent!!

Not overly original
I'm not usually one to complain about lack of originality because when a story is good I really don't care much but this story hacked me off a little as stories like this often do.
WIthout any spoilers I shall just say that two men are murdered, they're both vile people, so who cares really? BUT it's still against the law so the wrong doers must be found! Blah, blah, been there, read that, I don't like this kind of story, it reflects reality far too well, the REAL wrong doers go free time and time again, while the innocent suffer.
Enough said. All in all this is as good as the rest of the series, none of them are overly original, Ruth Hunter is a screwed up woman and we all love her nonetheless, so you really need to add this to your collection if you're a fan and I can't say that it was unenjoyable so go for it.
