Summary

A large country mansion. A locked room. A gruesome murder.

Russian oligarch Alexander Volkov has invited 1,000 guests to a party at his palatial Surrey residence, Westgrave Hall. But while giving a private tour of the library, a gunman kills Volkov, wounding his ex-wife and slaying her new beau. Nothing makes sense to DCI Craig Gillard. In the blood-spattered crime scene there are no forensic traces of anyone else involved, CCTV shows no one entered or left the library, and everyone seems to have an alibi. Is it a crime of revenge, the squaring of a love triangle, or a Russian government operation? Could the victims have simply shot each other? Gillard’s eventual discovery is shocking even to him.

A gripping crime thriller from a master of the genre, The Bodies at Westgrave Hall will leave you guessing until the very end.

Annoying narration

I can’t for the life of me understand why the narrator decided on moronic voices for most of the police officers. The text shows them speaking good English in well constructed sentences but he makes them sound as though they can barely read or write. Why?

The story is a bit far-fetched, not as good as previous books in the series, but it’s made so much worse by this annoying narration. I hope the author decides on a different voice actor for future books. I won’t be listening to this one again.

not a good book

I have read and enjoyed all of the craig gillard books to date and waited eagerly for this one to arrive. I have to say that i could not wait to get to the end of it. I found it to be the most boring book i have listen to and was very disappointed with this. There is a lot of irrelevant information given especially at the start and it did not capture my interest at all throughout this. The only reason i did not return is that i am ever optimistic that the next one will be better and be back to the exciting story lines from before. Unless you are a gillard fan then i would not recommend this book

lacking punch

I've listened to all of Nick Louth's books narrated by Marston York. His South London and Russian accents were a little annoying after a while, and when the characters should have been shouting, the narrator's tone didn't change.
Overall the story was good but lacked punch.

A very gripping audio book.

It was a complex plot but the author carried me as the listener on the journey. The end was not one I was anticipating. Brilliant.

I enjoyed the many twists and turns of the plot, never being able to determine the killer.

Another great book in the series! Not sure if there is another, but if there is I'll get it now!

Twists and turns

Yet another fantastic listen, the pace and story are perfect. The twists and turns in the plot are sublime in my opinion.
Can't wait to listen to the next book.

Brilliant

Very complicated. Stick with it... but you won’t guess the ending. Very clever. Enjoy it.
