About this listen
The Happiness Project meets So Sad Today in this 'hilariously witty, unflinchingly honest' book from the beloved founder of Words of Women, contemplating the nature of negative emotions and the insights that allowed her to take back control.
Five years ago, Lauren Martin was sure something was wrong with her. She had a good job in New York, an apartment in Brooklyn, a boyfriend, yet every day she wrestled with feelings of inferiority, anxiety and irritability. It wasn't until a chance encounter with a (charming, successful) stranger who revealed that she also felt these things that Lauren set out to better understand the hold that these moods had on her and how she could change them. She began to blog about the wisdom she uncovered. It quickly exploded into an international online community of women who felt like she did: lost, depressed, moody and desirous of change.
Inspired by her audience to press even deeper, The Book of Moods shares Lauren's journey to infuse her life with a sense of peace and stability. With observations that will resonate and inspire, she dives into the universal triggers every woman faces - whether it's a comment from your mother, the relentless grind at your job, days when you wish the mirror had a Valencia filter, or all of the above. Blending cutting-edge science, timeless philosophy, witty anecdotes and effective forms of self-care, Martin has written a powerful, intimate and incredibly relatable chronicle of transformation, proving that you really can turn your worst moods into your best life.

Loved this book!
Stumbled across this on Audible & so glad I did. So many insights into the way I feel & subsequently act, & how I might manage to control the moods that don’t always serve me.... or the people around me. A really helpful book that gets straight to the point.
It’s sometimes hard to take in information like this when it’s read out loud but something about this just works, the narrator is a good speed, the anecdotes help to explain the points & it’s a really enjoyable listen. It covers so many areas of a woman’s life, family dynamics, beauty, sleep, hormones, work relationships... will definitely listen to this again as a very motivational listen. ❤️

Learning how to control and manage your moods and better still not go into a mood at all.
Very interesting as I have struggled with my moods a lot recently and listening to this book has made me realise how to maintain them better and understand that it won’t get me anywhere by being annoyed over the smallest thing.

I absolutely adored this book
This book was such a joy to listen to. So real and honest! She talks about those unreasonable strange moods, those silly fears that come from our own insecurity that we are too embarrassed to talk about out loud because we think that people will think we’re crazy. It felt like Lauren Martin and I were sitting at a cute cafe and as I was just listening to her and I could see myself in almost every chapter. Easy to listen to. Heartwarming and true. Love it. Great company now that we are on lockdown here in Greece. Thanks Lauren!

So honest and excellent
I found this book so interesting and insightful. I loved how honest the author was about the moods that I feel but have always felt a bit ashamed of. I also bought the physical book and will definitely re-read again.
