About this listen
The old Corpse Bridge is the route taken for centuries by mourners from villages on the western fringes of Derbyshire to a burial ground across the River Dove, now absorbed into the landscaped parkland of a stately home.
When Earl Manby, the landowner, announces plans to deconsecrate the burial ground to turn it into a car park for his holiday cottages, bodies begin to appear once again on the road to the Corpse Bridge. Is there a connection with the Earl's plans? Or worse, is there a terrifying serial killer at work?
Back in his job after the traumatic events of previous months, Detective Sergeant Ben Cooper knows that he must unravel the mystery of the Corpse Bridge if he's going to be able to move on with his life. As the pressure builds, Ben doesn't know who he can trust and, when the case reaches breaking point, he has to make a call that could put everything and everyone at risk.

Descriptive love of Derbyshire
This author clearly has a deep love and passion for the countryside and history of Derbyshire. Whilst I enjoyed this aspect I found that the murder plot was almost a tool to show this off. I found this lack of balance affected my enjoyment and so whilst I listened to the end I wasn't too impressed by the resolution and won't rush to read another.

It made me scream!
It made me scream not because it was creepy in any way, shape or form but because they kept mentioning that bridge again and again and again! They mentioned the Coffin Road fairly often too. It was very laboured.

Peak District Thriller is Tense and Satisfying
Stephen Booth goes from strength to strength with this book in the Ben Cooper/Diane Fry series. The characters are now well developed and the interplay between plot, character and location is excellent. The Corpse Bridge is intriguing and tense from the outset and the plotting is detailed and convincing.

The Corpse Bridge
Another Great book in the Cooper and Fry series. I really enjoy this series partly I suppose because I don’t live too far from where the series is set and know a lot of the places mentioned but also because the characters are becoming good friends and the stories keep me guessing to the end
Keep it up Mr Booth
