About this listen
Lose up to 12 kg in 12 weeks.
Two doctors want to help people lose weight, and they know how to do it. Obesity is now our biggest health threat and is ruining people's lives. Diets work for a while but then fail. Why?
In The Diet Whisperer, Dr Paul Barrington Chell and Dr Monique Hope-Ross explain in simple terms why we are now struggling with our weight. And the answers are very surprising. They tell us why calorie counting is flawed and why exercise is not the answer. They dispel many long-held myths about weight loss and dieting, backing up their methods with up-to-date evidence-based medicine. In this remarkable book on wellness, the two doctors tell us exactly how to lose weight, lose it quickly and lose it forever.
There are easy-to-follow plans for fat adapting our bodies and controlling our fat storage hormones. They teach us how to combine these with safe intermittent fasting to control our weight forever. As a new diet-whisperer, you will have the skills to make your loved ones healthier too.

Fantastic Narrator
Loved this book! Great content, well written and well delivered. I’m cross with the negative review of the narrator because the vocal is authoritative and wonderfully mellifluous. Perfect for a science-packed audio book detailing the overwhelming evidence stacked against the modern-day sugar-fuelled lifestyle. I’d highly recommend this book to anyone looking to improve health & wellbeing.

Full of challenges to previous held beliefs on diet.
I found the insight into our inner workings fascinating! I am fully in awe of how fearfully and wonderfully we are made 💥. No more abuse and neglect of this body by filling it with the wrong foods. This book has equipped me and reinforced my understandings of how to be the best me! I now look forward to embarking on the 12 week intense journey ahead. Watch this space 🧬🔥

Brilliant advise for losing weight
This book is brilliant at explaining the scientific side of nutrition. Great if you want to lose weight in a controlled and careful way and keep it off - absolutely makes sense.
I now walk into a supermarket and probably only buy 10% of the products on offer - opened my eyes to processed food and how marketing has trained us to buy the offers that aren't necessarily healthy, and also how to get into ketosis.
Thoroughly recommended if you want a health boost that is sustainable - I feel so much better having lost two stones in five months. I still allow myself some treats and Christmas I had two weeks off but now I know how easy it can be to follow, I'm back on it with the aim of losing another stone, at least.
Thank you to Dr Paul for laying it out so simply and making it so easy to understand.

Great content. Poor narration.
Great book. Useful content. Robotic narration spoils the overall effect, although I still give 5 stars for the authors. The man in the street, who will read/listen will be put off by the use of academic style with names only being used to introduce the abbreviations then only abbreviations. We don’t want to be checking an appendix every time an important point is made. We’re not all academics. The subject calls for a softer delivery rather than the dry, robotic tone that has been chosen by someone.

An interesting book
The information is interesting and we'll presented for something so complicated and scientific.
My only complaints are that the narrator sounded a bit patronising every time there was a positive message delivered, it was clear he was simply reading and not putting in the feeling needed to prevent it sounding disingenuous. Secondly the plan has a lot of science behind it but ultimately it underestimates the changes needed to start this plan and frankly the whole thing comes off as incredibly intimidating. I might take quite a bit away from this that I will incorporate going forwards but would I follow the plan in this as laid out in the book? Good god no. There's some great advice but ripping up everything you currently do wholesale like this feels insane to me, I know the idea is to lose weight over a 3 month period but if they really believe in changes for life I think the authors need to have a parallel plan that has a slower intro to the diet because it is so fundamentally different to how most people eat right now that they will need to change slower and in a more controlled way. Simply going from eating a huge amount of carbs to 25g per day is not something somebody is easily going to wrap their head around. Much better to get them to workout how to cut carbs out, starting with bread and other big offenders and then moving on from there. Most of us would have no idea how to eat Keto if we had to and this book, while offering good justifications for its efficacy doesn't really have anything useful in it in terms of advice of what a keto diet can look like and what to eat. The practical information is remarkably thin on the ground.

An absolute must read for a healthy life.
Your doctor doesn't know this stuff. Don't take food advice from anyone else. This is the latest, proven (over 20 years) science of why people get sick and put on weight. It's a way of eating that includes the super healthy, frequent fast as a way of controlling sleep, hormones, body clocks and everything else. Very low carbs for life. Many things you will never eat again, but so worth the switch to what you do eat. Most of my favourite real food anyway. I've listened to the book 3 times and have ordered a few copies of the paperback. I think you need both as it's a lot to take in and you need to fully understand and commit. For life. I will.
