Summary

A powerfully life-affirming story of the wonder of nature, the ties of family and the healing power of love from best-selling novelist and national treasure Alan Titchmarsh.

An ordinary life. An extraordinary choice.

Adam Gabriel has always been a child of nature. Raised on his parents' remote Yorkshire farm, where life is measured by the rhythms of the flock, the turn of the seasons and the yearly arrival of an itinerant local monk, he seems destined for a quietly contented life.

As Adam grows, Luke and Bethany see flickers of something extraordinary in their son - a healing touch that goes beyond his love for the land. But Adam's gentleness has always made him an outsider, and a powerful gift can also be a heavy burden....

When tragedy turns the Gabriels' life upside down, Adam faces a stark choice. Can he keep faith in his talents, even if it means risking the suspicion of others? Should he listen to the lure of new horizons, or does happiness lie closer to home? And when he needs it most, can he find the strength to save the people he loves?

Disappointed.

Firstly I must say I'm a big fan of A.T books and was keen to start listening to this one but sadly I found it slow, disappointing and dreary and I didn't feel the story really went anywhere. Without spoiling it for others, I know our main character was supposed to be older than his years and I appreciate that but I don't buy his overly mature conversations towards the end in particular. I wanted to like this book but unfortunately I found it a slog. Sorry Mr T because I've loved all your previous stuff.

Wonderful story

I have enjoyed watching Alan since his early days on TV. I have also read some of his novels. This is the best one yet. His narration was excellent. His voices and accents were so believable.
His writing is very sympathetic . I cried and I laughed. I loved all the characters. I love his alliteration. He is an excellent wordsmith. I love his description, I sometimes get bored by description in some books but not Alan’s. I could imagine I was in the dales.
I highly recommend this book.

Brilliant book

First book that l have read by this author, really enjoyed it and have now downloaded two more from Alan Titchmarsh.
The Yorkshire farm and countryside was beautifully described, l wanted to be there.

No gift horse

Reminiscent of afternoon TV. Little plot with much unplanned semaphoring. Adamant could do very much better

Heartwarming

I so enjoyed the Gift. Such an uplifting story. If I’d been reading it I don’t think I would have been able to put it down. Although having Alan reading it made it even more enjoyable. Thank you.
