So close but almost perfect

I did really enjoy this story, it had a lot of the elements I enjoy when it comes to fiction and it has the historical element as well, ny only negative was the antagonist as it was quite clear he was being bee-lined to be this "oh they are so terrible" type character when in reality he was quite regular for the time period and the story tended to flipflop between humanising them with these sad heart to heart moments of loss and then back to painting them negatively.

All in all though I did very mich enjoy my time in this world and it was narrated amazingly.

Twee and unexciting

I was hoping from the title details that the story would be edgy, intriguing and mysterious. it was none of these things, and I found the characters a bit dull. I let it run while I was having difficulty sleeping. I was not absorbed in the (predictable) outcome to have finished it otherwise.

Okay but not really satisfying

Very predictable and over detailed. Eg the entire wedding vows repeated line by line. Engaging enough as background noise but not really my cup of tea.

Great Plot

A really good listen, found myself binge listening and unable to stop. So many good twists and turns and the ending rounded the book up perfectly.
