Summary
“Don’t go in the guest bedroom.” A shadow falls on Douglas Garrick’s face as he touches the door with his fingertips. “My wife...she’s very ill.” As he continues showing me their incredible penthouse apartment, I have a terrible feeling about the woman behind closed doors. But I can’t risk losing this job—not if I want to keep my darkest secret safe....
It’s hard to find an employer who doesn’t ask too many questions about my past. So I thank my lucky stars that the Garricks miraculously give me a job, cleaning their stunning penthouse with views across the city and preparing fancy meals in their shiny kitchen. I can work here for a while, stay quiet until I get what I want.
It’s almost perfect. But I still haven’t met Mrs Garrick, or seen inside the guest bedroom. I’m sure I hear her crying. I notice spots of blood around the neck of her white nightgowns when I’m doing laundry. And one day I can’t help but knock on the door. When it gently swings open, what I see inside changes everything....
That’s when I make a promise. After all, I’ve done this before. I can protect Mrs. Garrick while keeping my own secrets locked up safe.

Good book
Audio book version was great, enjoyed it would recommend! I enjoyed the twist’s throughout the story and this series are the best ones I’ve read from this author! Enjoyed the narrator again she narrates the story extremely well highly recommend!

Brilliant read I could not stop listening!
Great storyline and follow on from the previous book, she’s written it so you don’t have to have read the first book but makes you intrigued as to where this all started! Highly recommend!

I liked the story
especially how it has followed on but still kept me guessing until the end. especially like the reveal chapter where is goes back at each step to explain what actually happened

As good as the first book
Another tale of the unexpected. An easy listen. Good psychological thriller not too long. Enjoyable but I think I’ve listened to enough now, won’t do book 3

Great plot twists
I loved this book- I liked that I already knew Millie and Enzo. Great storyline and nice twist at the end. I was hooked from the beginning

Not bad, not bad at all
I started listening to this book right after "The Housemaid" and expected it to be as engaging as the first one, but the first half was a bit disappointing.
The story was there, but it didn't fully grab my attention. Then, there was a surprising twist that changed everything. I ended up enjoying it and didn't want it to end.
Hopefully, there will be a third book released soon.

Narration and great story
The next one is out June 11th. Love this series! Highly recommend to anyone who loves a thriller/mystery and who loves to see justice served!
