About this listen

Six friends on a luxury yacht. Only five are coming back....

A dream vacation turns deadly in this pulse-pounding, twisting revenge thriller set on the Riviera about dark female friendships.

Do you dare step on board The Lion's Den?

Belle likes to think herself immune to the dizzying effects of fabulous wealth.

But when her best friend Summer invites her on a glamorous girls' getaway to the Mediterranean aboard her billionaire boyfriend's yacht, the only sensible answer is yes.

Belle hopes the trip will be a much-needed break from her stalled acting career and uniquely humiliating waitressing job, but once aboard the luxurious yacht The Lion's Den it becomes clear that all is not as it seems.

The dream vacation quickly becomes a nightmare as Belle and the handful of other girlfriends Summer has invited are treated more like prisoners than guests by their controlling host and Belle comes to see Summer for what she truly is: a vicious gold digger who will stop at nothing to get what she wants. Belle soon realises she's going to have to keep her wits about her - and her own secret close to her chest - if she wants to make it off the yacht alive....

really enjoyed listening to this performance. entertaining thriller that is pure escapism. Would recommend if you want something engaging with no dark realism.

Good idea, slightly awkward execution

Good idea, written well but the plot focus and the detail that the writer decides to go into on various bits of the book is a bit chaotic, rather than staying on task. Some detail would’ve been better to add in, lots of it could be definitely left out

A book to listen to whilst getting on with other things

This was fairly okay as a listen, good narrator made it possible to finish easily. I could switch it on and do things around the house and not worry about missing anything, because i could pick up the gist very easily if needed. One to use to aid dozing off at night if struggling to sleep and not having to back track too much the next day. Will be used for this again if we have another lockdown, but on the whole okay.

Shame about the ending...

Given the length of this, it was very easy to get through. The setting, the characters and the plot bubbling were all built nicely. The suggestion of an unreliable, false friend is sown without it being obvious who is using who. A drama on the seas around beautiful coastline plays out. What then disappointed was the ending. Having built the mystery nicely, the denouement unfolds a bit like the end of a Mills and Boon novel with the long arm of convenience employed and things falling into place in a very corny manner out of step with the care taken over the many pages that had gone before. Such a shame - I’d hesitate to read this author again if I felt her books ended as lazily as this abs without treating the reader with enough respect that things were really concluded in a remotely credible manner.

Good narration.

Enjoyed the story

I enjoyed the story but did feel like it was quite drawn out and perhaps could of been a bit shorter. However I thought the narrator was good and it’s easy listening book.

Enjoyed it

An enjoyable listen, storyline kept me guessing, a large part of my enjoyment was the narrator’s delightful range of accents, she’s got the ‘mean girl’ accent down to a tee!

This is excellent. Story is only surpassed by the Narration.

Brilliant narration, fantastic story and characters. If you like a great psychological thriller set in the world of the super rich and what it takes to be part of their world you’ll love this one. Author and narrator are a great team.
