Yorkshire, 1979

Maggie Thatcher is prime minister, drainpipe jeans are in, and Miv is convinced that her dad wants to move their family Down South.

Because of the murders.

Leaving Yorkshire and her best friend Sharon simply isn't an option, no matter the dangers lurking round their way; or the strangeness at home that started the day Miv's mum stopped talking.
Perhaps if she could solve the case of the disappearing women, they could stay after all?

So, Miv and Sharon decide to make a list: a list of all the suspicious people and things down their street. People they know. People they don't.

But their search for the truth reveals more secrets in their neighbourhood, within their families - and between each other - than they ever thought possible.

What if the real mystery Miv needs to solve is the one that lies much closer to home?

Fabulous!

Wow! This really is an amazingly good book. I nearly didn’t buy it because the protagonist is a child and that is usually not my thing. The great number of glowing reviews encouraged me to take a chance though and I’m so glad I did so. The storyline is truly original, it’s beautifully written, with really well drawn characters and genuinely

hard to put down. One of the best books I’ve ever read/ listened to. I highly recommend it!

Excellent Narration Gripping Story

One of the best books I’ve listened to. The lives of ordinary people brought to life over a tragic period of history we all know about. One I will definitely listen to again. I was a teenager in those times and felt such a connection to the young people in this story. If I could give it more than 5star I would.

Unputdownable!

The familiarities in this book for me make it a most addictive book. The story of love, loss and friendship at a time when unspeakable things were happening captures perfectly how life was at that time. Not only the story is perfect but the narrative too. Don’t miss out on this book! Read it today!

Heart wrenching & heart warming

Great narration from all. The story really takes you in. The background being about The Ripper but the story itself being one of relationships, love, friendship, loss, uncertainty and things left unsaid. The innocence of Miv & Sharon set against the evilness of The Ripper is outstanding. It’s both heart breaking & heart warming in equal measure. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Let down by editing

The story was enjoyable with different lives intertwined. However, the editing has let this audiobook down. There are numerous occasions where the same phrase or sentence is repeated which detracts from the flow of the narrative.
