About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
Do you have an existential crisis every time your alarm goes off?
Did you used to be fun/effervescent/happy/less of a bitter old b*tch - and now, let's just say, you are not?
Do you want to feel creative, inspired and, well, just alive again?
Let Ash Ambirge - one of Huffington Post's 50 Must-Follow Women and founder of the multi-million-dollar, multi-award-winning website and blog The Middle Finger Project - offer you a spunky new alternative to traditional concepts of 'work'.
Growing up in a trailer park, by her 21st birthday Ash was a jobless, homeless orphan with only $26 to her name. But even with the odds stacked against her, she changed her fortune forever by starting her million-dollar business from the backseat of her car. Ash gave the finger to convention, blazed her own path and finally found work she loved. And she wants to show you how she did it.
Whether you're an individual freelancer, self-made entrepreneur, or part of a larger corporation but not realising your dreams, Ash draws on her unconventional personal story to offer a fun, bracing and occasionally potty-mouthed manifesto for the transformative power of radical self-reliance. Her paradigm-shifting advice will teach you how to hack your own success, create your own career options, rid yourself of imposter syndrome, and leverage your creativity to make it to the top. Told with her characteristic wit and no-bullshit attitude, this book is a must-read for anyone feeling stuck, restless, and doubtful of everything, especially themselves.

Fabulous
From the time I stumbled across Ash's Middle Finger Project blogs, I fell in love with her energy, attitude and writing style. The book could have just been an excuse to flex her literary style and, even if there was no substance, it would doubtless have been a rattling good read - but wait ... there IS substance too. Ash gives a compelling and inspiring account of how it can be, and indeed is possible to identify and follow one's dream and passion even if the confidence isn't yet there to support you. I know Ash's material and message is based towards women, but I'm a bloke and I enjoyed it tremendously and took no small amount of inspiration too.

inspiring, entertaining and achievable
This is a must read for women who want to start their own business, or anyone who has and is holding themselves back. it's right up there with the 4 hour work week for inspiration and it's packed full of heart.
Even if you aren't going to start your own business, you'll be inspired to start living life on your own terms

Exciting & Refreshing! Loved it.
The cover of this book gives the impression that it is fun and frivolous and maybe one of those not-too-heavy, quickly absorbed reads for the train. And it is such great fun - BUT it contains an incredible amount of genuinely life-changing ideas, backed up by hilarious examples from the author’s own experiences. Especially good if you are into building your own business. I absolutely adored it. Read it, (and be sure to have a highlighter to hand because you WILL want to highlight many passages because they resonate so much) and give it to your sister, your best friend, your daughter.. The book makes you look at how you conduct yourself in the world in a really fresh way and opens your mind to the possibilities of what you can achieve and the respect you can and should demand of the world. I’m a bit of a junkie of entrepreneurial/self-improvement literature and not so easy to impress, but even some of the ideas I am familiar with (such as why you should offer 3 choices when you’re selling anything), somehow come across with more power than I’ve heard them before. It’s an extremely feminist book without even trying to be because it’s as if no one ever told Ash that there be could be limits on her because she’s a girl. She knows no limits and that’s an exciting lesson to learn. Thanks Ash!

Love!
Wish I had taken notes! Going to have to read again. This book is so empowering and as someone who always follows the rules... I am inspired to break some. Because who makes them anyway?

LOOOVED IT! 🔥
I will be definitely re-listen to this book whenever I feel lack of motivation or encouragement, because this book does wonder for that!
Ash's personality and mindset are exactly what I want to embody, and her perspective in life just resonated with me so much!
Deffo a must, even if it's just for the narration, which is hella funny and clever! 🤩

Brilliant
A brilliant book, brilliantly narrated.
I have already stuck my middle finger up and started a business but this book really put the fire back in my belly. I can't remember relating so much to an author, from the "tone it downs", to the rule breaking, to the linguistics degree. A great balance of humour, vulnerability, reflections and inspiration. This is an excellent read/listen for any woman who feels stuck or feels like there has got to be more out there.
