Effortless
This was such a lovely listen Richard E Grant bring the charters to life beautifully. I have already downloaded another Marple with him reading it!

Such a well-known story...
This is the first Agatha Christie book I have listened to or read. I have seen various TV depictions and know the story well but there are still some surprises. The book is told from the perspective of the vicar and this worked well. There are a lot of characters, and I felt that they were all quite easily recognised with good individualisation. The clues and red herrings were fun to identify.
The narration was not top notch but was still quite good- there are definitely one or two very dodgy accents but I though he managed the distinct voices quite well including the women who were quite numerous. I will say that occasionally he slipped from reading to acting but I didn't really mind that.
It is my plan to read or listen to more Agatha Christie and it will be interesting to see how other narrators do or what voices my head conjures up when reading the print versions.

Delightfully old-fashioned! Always enjoyed Agatha Christie.
Didn't care for Richard Grant's performance - too melodramatic! He is is excellent in film but not for audio - sorry. Good story that has been televised a few times with various interpretations.

Irish accent shockingly bad
Richard E Grant is a wonderful actor but my goodness is he bad at an Irish accent! It was so awful at one stage I nearly gave up but the story was fantastic (obviously, it’s Agatha Christie) so struggled through, wince by awful wince.

ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL
Where does The Murder at the Vicarage rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is one of the best audio books if you are a Christie fan. There are numerous versions all of which I have listened to with terrific casts but Richard Grant's narration is superb! His voice makes for the perfect "Vicar" - and the nuances of the other characters are portrayed superbly.
Who was your favorite character and why?
The Vicar! He is so perceptive, of others and himself!
Have you listened to any of Richard E. Grant’s other performances? How does this one compare?
No I haven't but I am going to search for some more definitely.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I am not sure "Christie" comes into the category of laugh or cry but she does always have some underlying humour floating about in her characters!

Yet another book I can listen to over and over again with great pleasure. A "keeper"!

A very charming, funny, authentic version
Richard E. Grant is a terrific narrator. He does many voices very convincingly, not least Miss Marple. The plot is twisty, full of red herrings, and satisfying, and the pacing is good. A really excellent version of the story, and for me, more enjoyable than reading it because of Grant's superb, witty performance.

Classic Agatha Christie
Superbly written and superbly performed. The 1920s language and vocabulary is just wonderful. It's a peek back into a kinder simpler, technology-free era. The story is full of twists and turns and red herrings and keeps you listening eagerly. Hugely enjoyable.

Sublime
I’ve read all AC’s crime fiction and it’s great to revisit them with Audible. Richard E Grant is a brilliant narrator. I hope he does more of Agatha’s work.
