Summary

Murder, mystery and a dog, and cat, of distinction. Heathcliff Lennox investigates.

Ladies man, dandy, charming rogue, thief. Montague Morgan has a buccaneering reputation and he doesn't give a damn—until he falls in love.
He has a plan, he needs money, and he knows how to get it. He and his lover conspire to escape to exotic lands with stolen gold.
But the gold belongs to dangerous people, and plans can go awry. Morgan disappears, has he escaped, or has he fallen prey to lethal retribution?
Lennox's friend, ex Chief Inspector Swift, is embroiled, and Lennox steps in to help, but his wedding is fixed for Christmas Eve and it's only a few days away. As the mystery around Montague Morgan deepens, so the tension rises....

Major Heathcliff Lennox—ex WW1 war pilot, 6 feet 3 inches, tousled dark blond hair, age around 30—named after the hero of Wuthering Heights by his romantically minded mother – much to his great annoyance.

As always a great listen. This series never ceases to produce interesting storylines, characters and old time crime with a twist of humour.

I had waited a long time for this audio book and it didn't disappoint and neither did Sam Dewhurst Phillps the narrator. Can't wait for the next book!

SOOO many red herrings. Kept me guessing…

…all the way through. Usual great quality, beautifully woven tale by Karen Baugh Menuhin and well narrated, though the added sound effect of the dog barks are rather annoying. On to the next Lennox mystery.

Stunning series

I love all this series. Well written and clever with many surprises. No fill in dialogue, repetition, or repeat pondering on who dunnit like a lot of books. Well defined lovable characters. I can’t wait to see what Lennox and Percy do next, and of course inspector Swift, Greggs the butler, cat Mr Tubs and dog Fogg . Lots of humour, suspense and action. Sam Dewhurst Phillips is an outstanding narrator. I actually forget there is one person narrating, not just with voice but the personalities each character has. After listening to 500+ audio books, he is my number one. How he is not narrating more books is a true mystery.

Perfectly Narrated. Enjoyable Stories.

I have enjoyed all of this series of books.
The narrator has a fabulous voice. The books are gentle and about another era, perfect for a bedtime listen. Love the dog and cat and dearly hope they live on in further books to a ripe old age.

Reliably good!

Thoroughly enjoy these very cosy, but often poignant, murder mysteries. Great narrator, puts some real verve into the telling.
