Summary

The addictive and compelling thriller from the million-copy bestselling author of The Girl Before

When Finn Hensen gets a call from his sister Jess to say their father has died, neither is heartbroken. Their parents divorced many years ago, after which their father, Jimmy, continued to live a bohemian lifestyle in sun-soaked Mallorca, while his family returned to the UK.

Ownership of his home, a beautiful but dilapidated farmhouse in the mountains, now passes to Finn and his sister. The only problem is that Jimmy recently remarried for the third time, and his new wife, Ruensa, is still living there.

The pair agree that Finn should go to Mallorca and tactfully take possession of their inheritance. When he arrives, however, Finn is surprised to find that Finca Siquia has been completely transformed into a chic Mediterranean bolthole by Ruensa - along with her twenty-seven-year-old daughter, Roze. The Spanish police, meanwhile, are asking awkward questions about Jimmy's death... Are Ruensa and Roze the helpless victims of circumstance? Or will they stop at nothing to get Finca Siquia for themselves?

A quick read with frustrating characters

The other reviews say how boring and pathetic the character is, Wasn't that the point? I found I was trying to guess what was happening throughout. I do agree the ending was rushed. It didn't need to be spelled out what happened but could've had more viewpoints at the end.

Ok

Not my favourite JP book, story was a bit drawn out and not as dramatic as I would have liked

Very different

Great to find a book that is deeper and not predictable. Really enjoyable and very different

Just missed the 5

As others have said 80% was great. But by the end I wasn’t really bothered about any of the characters. I even listened twice as I thought I was missing something.

Enjoyable but different

Very different from other J P Delaney books but I found it interesting and enjoyable. Excited to see what they publish next!

Not sure on this one

I love JP Delaneys books and had this pre ordered. But I’m not sure on this one. 80% of the story was fantastic. But the last 20% felt rushed and didn’t exactly make sense. It’s good. Just not great.

Great Start, Disappointed Finish!

Ahhhh, I was left really disappointed with the ending of this book.

The start of the book had so much potential and I was quite enjoying it. Then it went off in a direction that made absolutely no sense.

It felt like only the author had written the first 2/3 of the book, got distracted, then rushed to finish it off.

I hope this book is just a blip and normal service can resume in his next book.

New Wife

Not my favourite of my JP Delaney books but it had enough twists and turns to occupy my mind. Descriptions of the countryside and culture of Mallorca drew me in as well as the plot.

Hmmmm..

I usually like JP Delaney’s books gripping to the end but this one had a disappointing ending.

Feel like it needs a sequel!

As others have said, it started well, but ending a little bit disappointing, Could do with a sequel to pick up some of the loose ends!
