One morning we all woke up, it was New Year's Eve, and we were ready to ring in the New Year. We made it to 2020, a whole new decade. We told ourselves, "This is going to be our year! This is it." Then, it all went downhill. Locked-up, unprepared, anxious, and confused. The world felt empty. We went from sending two a.m. "You up?" texts to getting ration cards for our toilet paper and starting our emails with "Hope you are staying safe in these unprecedented times". All of us thought, "This will be over before we know it." Yet, here we are, over a year later, still here.
Sure, we have more toilet paper, but our mental health has certainly taken a toll. Society and the media have brought awareness to COVID-induced anxiety, but do we really know how to approach it?
As the world tries to rebuild, we also have to work to rebuild ourselves. We all want to get back out there and live our lives, but let's be honest...we're anxious. We're scared, we're nervous, we're not used to this. No one gave us a manual for how to get through something like this.
