Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
From the bestselling author of The Authenticity Project comes a brand-new uplifting and feel-good novel that everyone is falling in love with...
Nobody speaks to strangers on the train. But what would happen if they did?
Every day at 8:05, Iona Iverson boards the train to go to work. Every day, she sees the same people and makes assumptions about them, even giving them nicknames. But they never speak. Obviously.
Then, one morning, Smart-but-Sexist-Surbiton chokes on a grape right in front of Iona. Suspiciously-Nice-New Malden steps up to help and saves his life, and this one event sparks a chain reaction.
With nothing in common but their commute, an eclectic group of people learn that their assumptions about each other don't match reality. But when Iona's life begins to fall apart, will her new friends be there when she needs them most?

Fun novel with one big flaw
I loved the concept of this book - of random commuters coming together to become friends and helping each other through life’s challenges. And as an audio book, it is performed well. BUT the author has written a 57-yr-old character as if she’s 77 or 87! She portrays her as an old woman and it jars horribly. It’s such a shame as it’s otherwise a lovely story. I guess if you’re not a woman in your 50s, it might not bother you! But I am!

it was ok
I live in Hampton Court and found it irritating how i could not relate to that side of it. I have hardly ever seen people walking to station in stilettos, there is no tourist shop, no tables on trains and the train times are wrong. It was so silly but this all really annoyed me as was looking forward to a story relating to my home train station. The story is a very easy listen a bit too much so. A book where no thinking is required.

Easy summer read
I wasn’t blown away by this book, it was pleasant and I did chuckle at various points, a bit predictable for me personally but not always anything wrong with that either. I have to speed up the narration but this is normal for me. It almost reminded me a little of the film, The notebook.

Feel good relaxing read
Great insight into real people, witty, real and joyful. Thank you Clare Pooley, it was a wonderful place to go to get away from current events for a few hours

Brilliantly observed, sharply written, great characters and a thoroughly entertaining book. This has that feel good factor.

Excellently narrated
Lovely interweaving of lives. Covers some serious topics without it becoming really heavy. The narration was very good.

Worthy story line
SO true we all make assumptions which are often incorrect and it is good to talk to those we see regularly but this book was also just not true to life outcomes!

Worth listening to!
A clever take on commuting. The narrator was able to convey the story really well. Loved the humour around the main character.
