Summary

THE PERFECT HUSBAND . . .

After a difficult pregnancy, Esther is grateful that her husband Robin offers to put his career on hold so that she can return to the job she loves.

But Esther finds leaving her daughter Riley behind more challenging than she'd thought. And soon the new imbalance in her relationship with Robin brings old tensions to the surface.

OR A PERFECT LIE?

Then one day Esther arrives home from work to find Robin and Riley are missing. As the police investigate their disappearance, it becomes clear that nothing about this modern-day family is what it seems...

Is Robin the perfect father everyone thinks he is? Or was it all a perfect lie?

Excellent Listen

I admit I was worried the book could be stereotypical but couldn’t have been more wrong. There are so many things going on you are hooked from the start. I have never read/listened to this author before but will definitely be looking out for her now.

Story ok, bit predictable, male narrator horrendous

Story ok enough for me to try another book by the writer but I would’ve enjoyed it far more if it weren’t for the male narrator (bizarrely other reviewers have spoken well of both narrators but he irritated me enough when he was speaking the male role but when he was in any female role he sounded like some sort of little Britain spoof character

incredibly impressed

I absolutely love listening to this and I don't think I've ever got through a audiobook so quickly. there were so many plot twists and turns get your leg most of the way I was not expecting the end and I love that.

Enjoyable but no wow

It's not as clever as I wanted it to be. The twist in the middle is good but I felt the ending could have been less obvious. Still enjoyable but nothing too shocking to make you say 'wow, I didn't see that coming'.

such a good story

It took me a little while to get used to how the story unfolds. at the beginning I thought I had missed something but as the story unfolds I realised it was a way of misleading/telling only part of the story at a time. it is told by Robin and Esther in the past and the present and is such an excellent if unusual way of telling the story. I thoroughly enjoyed this book although it is not my usual genre.
