About this listen
From the humble garden lawnmower to the ear-splitting electric guitar, James May returns with a typically wacky account of what makes these great machines work, one piece at a time.
Reassembly is merely a form of therapy, something that stimulates a part of my brain that is left wanting in my daily life. When I rebuild a bicycle, I reorder my head. So might you....
I'm delighted that you will be listening to an audiobook about putting things back together. It's a subject that fascinates me but which I assumed was a lonely passion that I would take to the grave, unconsummated by the normal channels of human interaction. Welcome! You and I, we are not alone, and our screwdrivers are our flashing Excaliburs as we sally forth to make small parts of the fragmented world whole again.

how hard can it be?
it's James May so is compulsive listening, face it, he could read out the ingredients on a ketchup bottle and still make it listenable very I formative and numerous narratives, a bit short though bit well worth listening to.

Superb but alas, much like Hammond, too short.
A fascinating accompaniment to the much loved TV series. Hilariously read, educational and entertaining. Includes recipe for chocolate cake.

"I just like putting things together."
... And I just like listening to amusing people talk about their passions, especially when they include fascinating facts and delicious little anecdotes. And James May is one such person. Whether he's discussing telephones, bikes, lawnmowers or toy trains - or even just a screwdriver - he is fun and fascinating. I just wish the book was twice as long.
