Story
The wall just didn’t look right. Alex has been trying to cope. Life after his deployment had been rough. His ex-wife thought he needed to stop disappointing their daughter. She was right. He would try harder. With six hours before his little girl’s fourth birthday party, he saw the anomaly. One wall was too short. Plenty of time to tear out a panel and look behind it. He found a brick wall. His house wasn’t made of brick. Behind that was another just like the first. He still had time. When the second wall came down, Alex stood and stared at the shining doorway.

Story
'It's been 11 months since I sat in my teenage bedroom and my mundane life was cast into madness. I suppose you could argue it was a lot longer if you include the 30-year trip back to 1986.' After his miraculous weekend in 1986, Craig Pelling returned to a future he could never have envisaged. Even by his own hapless standards, his plans have spectacularly backfired. Does he face a bleak, lonely future, or does he try to seek answers? Either way, an emotional roller coaster beckons.

It started as a routine Miami to Charlotte flight for the passengers, crew, and Federal Air Marshal Stephen Mason. But a freak storm over the Atlantic propels the airliner unexplainably back in time to the early 18th century. They find themselves on the sparsely populated coast of the Carolina Colony. Charles Town is the only English settlement of any size in the area. It's an inhospitable place of vast plantations, slavery, hostile natives, tall ships, and marauding pirates.

1st or 2nd time around...
If you were young in the 60s, you'll love this story. If you weren't you'll wish you were. Starting in Middle Falls, Cassandra takes a trip or two, and you'll love her company all the way.
As always with Shawn Inmon's stories it's difficult to resist continuing to the next chapter, and this time is no different. But isn't each time different in Middle Falls?

One of these things is not like the others
I have to agree with the other reviewer that pointed out this book is not indicative of the prior books in the series. It does not focus much on the time travel aspect, which is what drew me to the series to begin with. We don’t have the multiple tries to get things right or the frequent references to advanced knowledge of historical events or cultural changes. It is basically one restart and then a story of that life. Understand, it was an interesting life, adventurous, but that is not what I was looking for in a time travel story.
I will state that I have thoroughly enjoyed the other books in the series. I also enjoy the authors comments at the end of the books discussing his real life inspirations for characters and story lines. I look forward to the next books in the series, and I hope the time travel well has not run dry.

Shawn Inmon does it again!
This is one of my favorite books in this series. Once again excellent writing and the narrator did a wonderful job. I can’t wait until the next one comes out on Audible. I was lucky that I didn’t discover series until there were six books already on audible. So I listened to them all very quickly. I got spoiled. So now I wait (im)patiently for the series to continue. 😩

Main Character is not Likeable
Unlike most of Inmon's characters, Cassandra is not likeable. She was 70 when her first life ended, but she acts like a thoughtless and rather stupid teenager. Definitely not the brightest light on the tree. I'm about 5 hours into this one and giving it up. Hard pass. Narrator didn't help.

A total disappointment
I started the story totally loving Cassandra and hoped her second time around would make her a much more interesting and accomplished woman. Instead, she started her second life not using one bit of her 70 year old knowledge and experience. Too bad about this story, because it had promise.

The narrator ruined it for me
I am not even sure if I liked the book. One hour in and I couldn’t stand the narration. The inflections of her voice were taking me out of the story. I made it through the end only because I wanted to see where it was going. But I was happy to finish it. I don’t know if it’s the narrator or the story, but this is my least favorite book in the series so far. There were some interesting parts, but I could not focus when every sentence ended with a high pitch. I wish I would have had the time to grab the actual book and read it.

Way off course
If you can, skip this and go to the next one. It's not about the do over which makes things interesting. She dies and comes back and becomes a hippie. She lives her ONE life as a hippie. Does not belong in the series at all

Love the book, but the narrator...
A narrator can ruin an amazing book. I loved the book, but I almost couldn’t make it through because this lady’s voice and intonation/inflection drove me up the wall. I’m a busy mom with no time to sit and read so I listen while doing chores or driving, otherwise, I’d have returned it and bought the physical book instead of fighting through.

Not as good as the rest of the series
I have really enjoyed the Middle Falls series and the stories of people finding the right path, even if it takes many lives. This one amounts to a story about someone’s life. Every time it could be interesting, it fails. I know anyone that has gotten this far in the series will push through this one but I sure hope the next is more interesting.

Lacking!
This book started off great but it didn't seem to go anywhere of great absorption. At some points it seemed that the story would go in one exciting direction then it doesn't and just runs out of steam.
I don't really understand the point of this story in this series as there wasn't any great or important learning moments, or much topics of interest, it's just a mundane existence, even the ending was flat.
I adore these books and I've read all of them up until now, and this is only the second one that has disappointed me, but it won't stop me from going on to the next one.
I can understand how a writer can get a bit of burn out when they write as many books with the same theme, and same kind of people. Maybe a bit more diversity in the people might have made things more interesting!
