Slow moving but worth the journey.

Not Koomson's best work, but definitely worth a listen. The story is a little drawn out in the first half anf I did find myself wishing the main character would grow some guts, but as with all DK books, I found myself looking at my own life, my attitudes and prejudices. The narrator's ability to take on every gender, regional accent and nuance is so good, it's almost distracting. I found myself often missing parts of the story because I was marveling at her ability to switch so convincingly between roles.
The characters in the story were well written, their portrayal by the narrator was perfect and as with all of the other DK books I've read previously, I couldn't stop listening.

Another great book from Dorothy Koomson!

Really enjoyable- the plot is so enjoyable to get immersed in.
The central characters in Dorothy Koomsons books are so engaging.

Good Listen

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book, it was well read and the voice and diction perfectly fitted the story. It was a good storyline which held the interest with lots of twists and turns. Just when you thought you had it sorted it changed track.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the way it gripped you from the first chapter and made you want to listen more. It helped pass the time whilst I was doing a very boring painting job.

Have you listened to any of Adjoa Andoh’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I have not listened to any of Adjoa other performances but I would like to.

Generally a good listen and I would like to try another by the same author and reader.

Excellent narrator. Good story but unnecessarily repetitive occasionally

The reader did an excellent job of distinguishing the different characters in this story. The story kept my interest right to the end and contained a few unexpected surprises. However in places I found the narrative repetitive which frustrated a more swift conclusion to the book. I did enjoy it though overall and I would purchase more tales from this author.

A Story to Make Your Heart Ache

The opening of this story made my mouth go dry. Tami's fear and the need to protect her family a heart stopping journey. The quandary of how a world is upturned and how strong female characters cope.
Adjoa Andoh again enhances the book with her understated narration.

A GREAT STORYTELLER

I love Dorothy Koomson's books. She writes about regular people facing irregular problems. Her stories are compelling and unfold at a good pace and she keeps me guessing as to what will happen next. I really enjoyed this book. The central character, Tami. was my favourite. After listening to an excerpt, I eagerly looked forward to listening to the next. Adjoa Andoh has narrated several of Ms Koomson's stories. She is an excellent actress and brilliant at distinguishing characters. These two ladies make a great team.

A superb listen!!

I had been deliberating getting this title then purchased it in a sale. From the first chapter, I knew that buying it at the full price would have been worth it. First - the narrator was excellent that created a good demarcation between characters. A superb choice and I will look out for other titles with this narrator. The story line kept me captivated as I listened at every opportunity. I must admit, I didn’t see the conclusion coming. Definitely a great listen that I would recommend.

Brilliant! Kept me guessing all the way through.

A long book with twists and turns but very enjoyable. It does take a little while to get started but, then there are so many changes and revelations you can't put it down!! The narrators voice is very good too. Would recommend!

Very good

I found the first part quite hard to listen to, there was a lot peoples feelings! Once the major event happened and lies unravelled it really got addictive. I felt a hole when it finished and I would of loved to of found out how their lives continued.
