Summary

While loyalist and traitor forces clash on a thousand battlefields across the galaxy, a very different kind of war is being fought in the shadows - a war of subtlety and subterfuge, unknown to many, but one that surely holds the key to victory for either side.

Rogal Dorn and his Legion prepare to defend the Solar System against the armies of Warmaster Horus, even as Malcador the Sigillite charges his many agents and spies with missions of the utmost secrecy. The future of the Imperium is being shaped by unseen hands....

well narated but poor

honestly the worst of the heresy books i've either read or listened to, these short stories have no impact on the overall plot of the series and very little value to the setting as a whole. while some were interesting few held any substance, could have gone entirely unwritten, unpublushed, unread and unmissed.

Another anthology! I keep Reading them In the hopes of a good story or at least plot insight. I Got neither. Only Keeble made this bearable.

Grey Knights - Getting the band together

Was a bit put off at first when I read the first few reviews (never do, just plow through the Heresy) that the stories within were not connected to the overall or main story of the Heresy. While in a sense true, I found them good stories for fleshing out some events we've seen and hopefully will soon. Mr Keeble does a banging job and a lot of what made me like the book as a whole is thanks to him. A good listen!

More random stories

It seems like half of the heresy series is falsely advertised because when I but a book saying its from the horus heresy series I expect something this has some sort of addition to the over all plot. However I've come across like 10+books where its just random stories from around the heresy, this book is in the late 30s so thats like a third of this series. So a third of these books are a complete waste if time. Everytime I come across a book like this from black libary it makes me think so much less of them because instead of trying to write a good story they jusr pump out lots of crappy random short ones just to sell you more book. All it does is make black libary look like money grabbing cheats, which is funny because that's exactly what games work shop are. Something to think about

Another anthology.....

.....but one of the better ones. Stories range in quality but on the whole this is a four star read/listen. I enjoyed most of the stories. Each offered up a little treat or twist. Filling in some gaps and fleshing out the Heresy. Narrator as ever was fantastic, breathing life into the characters and really delivering on the narratives. Worth a listen even if your looking to crack on with the core Heresy story.

Well worth the listen IMHO

Have been disappointed by some anthologies but I really quite liked this one. Gives insights into Malcador's plans, what's going on round Terra and in the backgrounds while Horus approaches.

As with all anthologies there's some chaff, but I do like the short stories that flesh out characters and fill in blanks in time.

Great story collection

Some fantastic works in this novel, The Watcher among them, makes you want to build a Wolf army!

great middle material

some where mediocre, but some in the top of the series. I would still recomend this, because it gives some to the main plot

Mostly repeats

I generally like the short stories over the longer novels however this one is padded with stories from previous issues

A forgettable book

Not the best, the stories don’t really pop. The best is the one including Loken. Worst the watcher, Dunn doesn’t understand space wolves.

Mr Keeble saves this book, an amazing narrator makes even slightly boring books interesting to listen to. Stories may be poor but he is amazing. If it wasn’t for him I probably would have skipped.
