About this listen
The inspiring, life-affirming memoir from Nicola Nuttall about her incredible daughter Laura
When Nicola Nuttall was told that her 18-year-old daughter Laura had only 12 months to live, following a diagnosis of the most aggressive form of brain cancer, glioblastoma multiforme, she couldn’t begin to process her emotions. It was her greatest fear come true.
But while her mother struggled to adjust and searched for new treatments, Laura made a decision: she would live her life to the full and embark on an extraordinary bucket list.
Meeting Michelle Obama, piloting a Royal Navy ship, sky diving, going on safari in South Africa, driving monster trucks, taking tea at the Ritz, dancing on stage in front of thousands and graduating from university were just some of the many adventures Laura undertook.
The Stars Will Still Be There is Nicola’s raw but beautifully written account of helping her daughter make the most of her remaining time, while dealing with her own pain along with that of her younger daughter Gracie and husband, Mark.
This is a heartbreaking, life-changing memoir that reveals the fragility of humans, the power of love and why we should all ‘Be More Laura’ every single day.

Making a dying girls dreams come true against adversity
Laura’s Glioblastoma diagnosis is the worst news her family could get, yet they fought every step of the way and gave Laura the richest life possible. Nicola is emotionally honest and writes this as a diary of how the family worked together to find treatments that gave Laura a fighting chance to live longer. Beautifully funny and desperately sad.

Honest and emotional
I loved this book but New about Laura struggle in the local radio and follow intently as my husband has just died of a similar thing. This book had me laughing one minute and crying the next the audio I found the best and loved the voices especially your alter ego. Stay strong.

A life changing book!
This book just blew me away! I wish I’d known this incredible young lady personally, as Laura Nuttall was simply a force of nature in every way. The honesty, outstanding bravery, humour and humility demonstrated throughout by Nicola Nuttall, Mark and Gracie is beyond impressive. Thank you for your kindness in sharing your personal tragedy to help others in similar situations.
The book is brilliantly written - in fact, it’s hard to believe that this is Nicola’s first book! I find that some audiobooks are poorly narrated, but this one is impossible to put down… great job by all!!
Can’t rate this audiobook highly enough - it’s life affirming in so many ways. I promise that those around you will have no idea why you’re crying (a lot!) and laughing as you enjoy this remarkable story. Disclaimer - I know this is a gushing review, but I promise you that I have never met the author! 😀 How she has managed to turn such a deep personal tragedy into an experiential gift to others is beyond me … but she has!!!

A tragic story beautifully written
Nicola expresses herself so eloquently and tells the story of her family’s experience in a way that you can’t help but shed a tear but keep listening. Her pride in her daughters and strength throughout is clear and whilst it is a difficult listen in places due to the nature of the subject, it is a story that will restore your faith in humanity in so many ways and also shows an alternative and brave approach to death.

Uplifting, beautiful and powerful!
This is an extraordinary story of bravery in the face of such a promising life cut short and the power of a Mum’s love. The whole Nuttall family are inspirational! I devoured this in a few sittings because it was so beautifully written. Having followed Nicola on X, I knew a little of the story, but my goodness, what a tale of determination and so much to reflect upon!

So moving
An amazing book, it made me laugh at times, weep at times and sometimes sob like there was no tomorrow. Laura was amazing and she did change the world. I try to #bemoreLaura. But you are a wonderful family and you all gave Laura the space and the help to be amazing, and now you will all change the world too as you keep her legacy alive. You are a truly special family and I’m sure Laura was given to you because she needed the 3 of you to fulfil her destiny. Thank you so much for sharing your family’s story xx
