Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

MURDER AND DECEPTION IN THE OLD BAILEY.

Meet Adam Green. Misfit. Purveyor of justice. Barrister-in-training.

When hero policeman Grant Cliveden dies from a poisoning in the Old Bailey, it threatens to shake the country to its core.

The evidence points to one man. Jimmy Knight has been convicted of multiple offences before and defending him will be no easy task. Not least because this is trainee barrister Adam Green's first case.

But it will quickly become clear that Jimmy Knight is not the only person in Cliveden's past with an axe to grind.

The only thing that's certain is that this is a trial which will push Adam - and the justice system itself - to the limit . . .

Critic reviews

'This is a book that takes you to the dark heart of the criminal justice system. They are all here - the good, the bad, the innocent and the guilty. I have not enjoyed a legal thriller this much since Grisham's The Firm' Tony Parsons

'The Trial is in the best tradition of John Mortimer's Rumpole series. A hugely enjoyable British courtroom drama' Steve Cavanagh

'Brilliant courtroom drama, humorous as you would expect from Rob, and one that I had to read slowly because I did not want it to end' Heidi Perks

Gripped from the first line.

Superbly written and narrated.
The most characterful and compelling novel I’ve read in a long while.

Finally it arrived!

I was so looking forward to listening to this book, thank goodness the storyteller was great! Would have only been usurped by Rob Rinder himself. I love the reference to Suzanne Reed at the start of the book, i hope it made her smile too!
A good book with a good plot, it’s not Tolstoy but I like it a lot.

Gripping

We have a lot of celebrities trying their hand at writing fiction lately. and I think that this book might be the best of the bunch so far.

BRILLIANT!!!

Wow this was my first audible book and what a book to start with!

Brilliantly written, excellent narration and I was simply delighted with the end. It kept me guessing right up until the last chapters. Rob Rinder I can’t wait for the next book to be written!
