Summary

You can't see them. But they can see you.

This forest isn't charted on any map. Every car breaks down at its treeline. Mina's is no different. Left stranded, she is forced into the dark woodland only to find a woman shouting, urging Mina to run to a concrete bunker. As the door slams behind her, the building is besieged by screams.

Mina finds herself in a room with a wall of glass, and an electric light that activates at nightfall, when the watchers come above ground. These creatures emerge to observe their captive humans and terrible things happen to anyone who doesn't reach the bunker in time. Afraid and trapped among strangers, Mina is desperate for answers. Who are the watchers and why are these creatures keeping them imprisoned, keen to watch their every move?

Amazing

Steady paced and binge worthy. I expected it to not really be my thing at the start but pretty quickly turned into a wonderful listen. Suspenseful and keeps you engaged right till the end, love it!

Outstanding!

A suffocatingly claustrophobic and unsettling read. This book goes beyond horror, as it is crafted beautifully and has a lovely melodic feel to it. Outstanding performance by the narrator, who created a really immersive experience. I’ll keep my light on!

Wow! Excellent read.. Loved every second. Very chilling and gripping story, a real page-turner.

Characters were great, the narrator was fantastic so hats off to Jacqueline Milne. Couldn't recommend enough and I cannot wait to read more A.M. Shine.

A well-read audio.

I loved how the writer got into the character's heads and showed how they interacted with each other and their environment.
Some readers might find the isolation of the story tedious, but the characters batted off each other enough to keep me interested. If I was reading this story instead of listening to the audiobook, I might well have lost interest.
I found the narrator's voice very clear, and she gave the main characters individual traits, so there was no confusion over who was who.
I look forward to more coming out from this author and the narrator. They are a winning combination.

A tale of Irish terror and brilliantly narrated.
I was genuinely sorry when the book ended.

Brilliant

Binged in one day. Loved the twist at the end! Not as scary as I thought it would be (horrid genre) but still a good book.

shame about the ending.

I enjoyed the story. It avoided the pitfalls of too many clichés. It was well written and well acted. I feel that the ending was a bit of a cop out though.
