About this listen
The course of true love never did run smooth....
When Fitzwilliam Darcy departs Hunsford after his disastrous proposal to Elizabeth Bennet, he does not expect their paths to cross again. Indeed, knowing the lady's true feelings for him, he makes every effort to see that they do not. But when a chance encounter leaves him stranded in an abandoned cottage with the one woman he can never have, Darcy quickly realizes there is more at risk than just Elizabeth's reputation.
Elizabeth Bennet knows Mr. Darcy is the last man in the world whom she could ever be prevailed on to marry. Until the morning he hands her a letter, his countenance as dark and forbidding as the windswept sky. Now, trapped in a snowstorm with the one person she was certain she despised, Elizabeth is startled to discover that her feelings are not at all what she expected.
But is one night alone together enough to alter the course of their future?
Can any man as proud as Mr. Darcy be expected to offer for the same woman a second time?
In this tale of serendipity and second chances, literature's unlikeliest couple must conquer pride, prejudice, and faulty first impressions in the elusive quest for their own happily ever after.

A lovely listen
This book is wonderfully narrated. The story itself is a great retelling of the original Pride and Prejudice HEA. Full of angst, misunderstanding, and, romantic interludes.

Nice variation not too far away from the original but enough to make it interesting, would recommend. Good narration.

Beautiful story with great narration
I've read this story a couple of times before and it is ones of my favourite Pride and Prejudice variations, I love it when Darcy and Elizabeth have to be 'compromised' by accident. I loved Jennifer's version of Darcy, he was everything I dream of being moody and regretful, kind and caring and passionately in love with Elizabeth. Elizabeth too was a great version of her personality coming to realise how she felt about Darcy and realising who he is underneath his distant exterior. This story had plenty of excitement and barriers for them to overcome and reach their HEA. Stevie's narration as always was perfect and added so much to the story, I usually just read these kinds of stories but occasionally I find one that is made so much better by listening to it, this will now be in my list of audiobooks to regularly re-listen to!

What a Start
I was completely new to Jennifer Altman's writing. Just searched for Stevie Zimmerman's narrations and found this one, and as the sample sounded promising I bought the book.
And what a first one to choose. It was so delicious to widnes Elizabeth's and Fitzwilliam's love blossom. I found it so easy to picture the entire narrative with my eyes closed. I loved all the characters. I love books that allow me the full run of emotions - laughing out loud, smirking and crying...
just wonderful to be listening.
10/10 from me 👍

Tortuous and timorous
The angst, doubts and lack of backbone are ladled on with a trowel. I'm amazed that they achieved an HEA.
