About this listen
In 2007, the US Army's 173rd Airborne Brigade posted to northeastern Afghanistan's Kunar Province. Battle Company, the best within the Brigade, was assigned the toughest Area of Operations. It was called the Korengal Valley. During their 15-month tour, Battle Company saw more combat than any unit since Vietnam. Raw and unapologetic, To Quell the Korengal is a first-hand account of life on the front lines. Written by a grunt on the ground, it is rife with gun fights, grueling foot patrols, a villainous company commander, the austere routines of the American soldier, and the kind of humor only found in war.
Though equally appealing to combat-hardened listeners, the story is told in a manner any civilian can comprehend. It was the author's wish that the book could serve as a bridge of understanding for a veteran's wife or mom, or anyone curious about the conflict and sacrifices of our nation's troops.

Written with great humour
One of the best books I’ve listened to about this war ! Written by just a normal soldier with a soldiers eye view ! I loved it from beginning to end 👍

To Quell The Korengal
I thought this was a really interesting book , getting right into the mindset of an American soldier
Pros ; A brave man
Got his detailed knowledge across of what it was really like, from day to day living to basic tactics used
His excellent sense of humour was present throughout
In spite of some of the other comments here , I thought it was well read
Cons ; I was surprised about his constant carping and whining about even small things.

A personal recollection of a long deployment
This is a decent personal account of the author's time down range in the Korengal. The only thing that would have made it better is if the author would have recorded it himself.

Was a list
It was an informative book highlighting the true story of average leadership. By commissioned officers. I would recommend this book.

The Inside View
This is a great autobiographical account of one paratrooper who served in the Korengal valley. A great read/listen. Well narrated, and an insight to the boredom, suffering and adrenaline of modern asymmetrical warfare.

Fantastic story from boots on the ground.
Soldiers eye view of the hardest campaign of the Afghan war.
Brilliant story.
I wish you’d have used Ray Porter to narrate.

a bit off
I read this book and I thought it was a good read, but listening to it is a bit hard he comes off as a bit up on himself.
