About this listen

My best friend’s little brother needs a bodyguard. Now I’m the one in danger...

I’m a SEAL. Or rather, I was. Retired at the grand old age of 38, I’m at loose ends. My best friend wants me to join his security team. I’m not sure I’m bodyguard material, but he needs someone to protect his kid brother. How hard can spoiled brat duty be?

Somehow, I missed the part where former child star Danny Love went from dorky TV darling to all grown up and disturbingly attractive. All the gossip about his wild ways fails to mention that he’s trying hard to clean up his act. But now he’s got a stalker.

Hiding out together in a remote mountain cabin alone, the temptation keeps building. I’m feeling things I never have before. Secrets I’ve kept even from myself bubble to the surface every time Danny looks my way with those puppy dog eyes.

I’m a SEAL. We leap into danger. So why is it so terrifying when that danger comes with the softest pair of lips I’ve ever known? At some point we’re going to have to return to Hollywood and our vastly different lives. Will Danny still want me around when he doesn’t need me for protection? Can I be brave enough to give him a reason to?

Tough Luck is book one in a brand-new SEAL bodyguard series. It features an age gap, steamy first times, and all the high heat, big emotions, and found family feels listeners expect from this fan-favorite military romance author.

Join A-List security for this lower-angst series featuring former SEALs and the celebrity clients who win their hearts.

Happy endings and no cliff-hangers guaranteed!

Sweet story

It’s a sweet story with a good balance between background story, the development between the main characters and hotness.
Kirt Graves does a great job with the narration!

Fun read and good audio

Story: An interesting story. It took me a bit to connect to Cash, but I got there.
The story has a lot if fun moments and a good overall plot idea. I was worried it would feel used up, as there are many bodyguard stories with a stalker theme, but it did not feel repetitive at all.
Narration: A very good performance! I liked Kirt Graves’ rendition of the characters.

Super emotional romance

I absolutely adored Danny and Cash, both vulnerable guys, searching for their HEAs. They're very different, but so perfect for one another. I could have cried for the pair of them and what they'd suffered during their childhoods. Both have a lot of soul searching to do, to work out what's best for them in the future. I'm not going to go into detail, no spoilers, and all that, just know it's, a wonderful story, full of feels and emotion. I loved the ending. Made me smile so much. Kurt Graves does a good job with the narration. 4.5 *s overall.

I liked it.

I enjoyed my time listening to this one, but I didn't think it's one of her best. I didn't get sucked into the story as much as I did with her other books, but I still really enjoyed it. If you like reading about ex military men, I would recommend it. :)

True love with a hint of terror

A love story which is really quite beautiful with a first time gay experience that opens up a new experience for a tough navy seal who was finding his way after years of service and a filmstar who finds security in his arms. Beautifully written and narrated.

Tough Luck

Audio review: this was a well performed book with clear differences between the characters. Danny is sweet and has a vulnerability after a strange and confining upbringing. Cash is a fierce teddy bear who is finally discovering himself after a lifetime of military service. the book was heavy on the characters with small snippets of the drama that put them together. I enjoyed it, and look forward to the next.

Amazing

I absolutely enjoyed this book!
Danny and Cash are polar opposites but the author has made them work so well together and absolutely believable.
They each had problems to deal with but they were exactly what the other needed in order to heal.
Kurt Graves did a fantastic job narrating and bringing these characters to life.

Generic and Unremarkable

I've lost count of the number of formulaic MM books there are where the MC is a celebrity - has a new security guard with a past - and then the celeb is in some kind of danger - they go and hide in a cabin in the woods- lots of UST, then they get freaky - lifechanging sex- danger ends, then HEA.
Please, authors, is it too much to ask for an ORIGINAL story? I hoped this one would have a twist or something to make it shine but I was mistaken. I stuck with it cos I love Kirt Graves's narration, but the story was generic and unremarkable.
