Summary

The new novel in the hit New York Times best-selling Dresden Files series.

The Warden Morgan has been accused of treason against the Wizards of the White Council - and there's only one, final punishment for that crime. He's on the run, wants his name cleared, and needs someone with a knack for backing the underdog. Someone like Harry Dresden....

Now, Harry must uncover a traitor within the Council, keep a less-than-agreeable Morgan under wraps, and avoid coming under scrutiny himself. And a single mistake may cost someone his head - someone like Harry

Critic reviews

“Fans of Laurell K. Hamilton and Tanya Huff will love this series.” (Midwest Book Review)

“Superlative.” (Publishers Weekly, starred review)

“Butcher...spins an excellent noirish detective yarn in a well-crafted, supernaturally-charged setting. The supporting cast is again fantastic, and Harry’s wit continues to fly in the face of a peril-fraught plot.” (Booklist, starred review)

Damn... there are not enough of these stories.

Another fantastic yarn, beautifully told. Compelling and funny as usual.

just worried that I'm a long way through the series... what will I do when I've heard all of the books?

Some interesting twists

I loved the early book, but like some many series this has drifted, or maybe marched, down a path I didn't enjoy as much. Still a reasonable book with some interesting characters, but feeling more and more like a wild west/space war theme with some badly written 'aren't I macho' sex scenes. I doubt I'll purchase another one.

Simply brilliant

This is another outstanding addition to The dresden files. It is both clever and gripping.

Excellent as always

The dresden files series are fantastic. I love the Morgan character. Great depth into the inner workings of the white council.

That was fun

Best one in a while I think. Have a sinking suspicion that it'll go downhill into fairy bollocks fairly soon.

Turncoat

An excellent story, I have read all of these book but James Marsters voice is brilliant he reads from the heart. I only know him as Spike from Buffey, but I could sit and listen to him all day long.
