Summary
A London cycle courier with a taste for adventure, Emily Chappell entered an extraordinary new race - The Transcontinental - in which riders must find their own way, entirely unassisted, across Europe in the shortest time possible. On her second attempt, she won the women's event, covering nearly 4,000 miles in 13 days and 10 hours, sleeping in short bursts wherever exhaustion took her.
In the aftermath of a win that troubled as much as pleased her she worked with Mike Hall, the founder of the race, until his tragic death on the road.
Where There's a Will is a book about a normal person finding the capacity to do something extraordinary; the paradoxes of comradeship, competition, vulnerability and will and the shock of grief, combined in a beautifully written and very human story.

Fantastic book by a fantastic cyclist
I loved this audio book so much!!!! Well written and brilliant that Emily narrated it herself. Her very British modesty sometimes makes you forget this woman is a beast on a bike, doing things I could only dream of as a keen cyclist. I took so much from this book, I laughed and I definitely cried.

Her voice is really getting on my nerves
Don't know if I can finish this. Think I should've bought it on kindle. Sometimes authors shouldn't narrate their own books.

One Tough Cookie
Emily what a beautiful writer it took me back to my long distance cycling days until I had my accident broke my C2 but made great recovery. I could feel your pain, I could feel your hunger for food and I loved the tribute to Mike💐 I am going back to listen again to a true Adventurous Woman x

Where There's a Will
Please have the will to finish this book, it's worth it.
This book can be as tough as some of the climbs, yet it also leaves you wanting more - more of the joy of winning, more of the triumphs - OK the book left me feeling a little down, not that a book must fake it, or that if the writer didn't feel that way but the climbs often seem to outweigh a subject that she is passionate about.

Inspiring, fierce and honest
This book is not only about cycling (though there’s a lot of that too). It will inspire you to become more resilient in the face of adversity and to embrace friendship and connection.

5 stars
Hadn’t realised Emily had written a book on this chapter of her life, heard her on the never straws far (NSF) pod cast. Her short interview/conversation with Ned led me to locate this podcast. What an absolute gem of a discovery and a pleasure to listen to. Beautifully crafted and eloquently delivered. Finished the last chapter and epilogue late last night in bed, a complete emotional mess. Thanks Emily for a great a piece on f work; also thanks Ned Boulting for the introduction.

Beautifully read
Fascinating insight into endurance riding, and wonderfully written. I really enjoyed Emily's eloquent narration. I have ordered her other book off the back of this one.

So much more than a book about long bike rides
Beautifully written, beautifully read. Moving, honest, descriptive in ways I - unlike Emily - lack the vocabulary or imagination to describe. At times funny, inspiring throughout. Highly recommended.
