Summary

His code name is Mr Clark. And his work for the CIA is brilliant, cold-blooded, and efficient...but who is he really? In a harrowing tour de force, Tom Clancy shows how an ordinary man named John Kelly crossed the lines of justice and morality - to become the CIA legend, Mr Clark.

This is an unforgettable journey into the heart of darkness. Without mercy. Without guilt. Without remorse.

old favourite given (almost perfect) new life

wonderful book. one of my favourites from Tom Clancy. The only thing that let it down was the recording quality. it's such a shame as the narrator did a wonderful job and the story really sells itself. Still well worth a listen if you can put up with the sound quality.

A GREAT book

Brilliant book. John Kelly becoming the person we know from the Jack Ryan series. Not to over the top. A real man not a movie hero.

One of Tom Clancy's finest

I love this brilliant book which details the origins of John Clarke. Naturally, some listeners may find the context of Vietnam conflict, and the notion of the cold war to be distant and unfamiliar themes, but most action story fans can work around this to enjoy the story which lies at the heart of this brilliant yarn. Others may feel somewhat challenged by the long prose of Tom Clancy. When set against the immediacy of the text speak generation I could see this may be an issue, but hey who couldn't benefit from the development of their attention span it offers and the wonderful escapism is really worth the effort.

Great story, average narration.

The narration is monotonic at first, it gets better as it goes on. Great story.

classic Tom Clancy

I enjoyed this story although I felt it was dragged out at the end in places.
